2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Morning

    Really weird night last night.
Was woken at very silly o'clock, well half two, couldn't work out why, then realised phone had rung. Mum's home number! Instant panic. Rang her - no reply. Rang 4 times - no reply. Starting to panic more by this point. Then she rang, she'd woken up and wondered where I was, so had rung me.(wheres the confused smiley when you need it) I said I'd been ringing her. "Where are you?" "I woke up and you'd gone" I said I was 80 miles away! Was she OK. "Yes, fine, goodnight" and put the phone down. The only thing I can think of is that she'd been dreaming I was there and had woken from a deep sleep, confused. At least I hope it was that.
Will ring her in a while to make sure she's all right, but had some odd conversations with her at the weekend when I didn't think she was quite 'all there'. Hoping its just the new medication.

Hugs, Gill, that doesn't sound good. OTOH, you're right, new medication can certainly do that. If its anything else, its come on *very* fast, which is extremely unlikely. Post on here when you've rung her, please do .....

  • Have rung Mum and she sounds OK, doesn't understand why I was so worried. What, a phone call at 2 in the morning and she thinks I won't worry (!)
Anyway I've rung her cardiac nurse and he is going to go round and see her. He thinks it may be the beta blockers that she's recently been put on. When she has a breathlessness attack, she has a normal inhaler, like asthmatics use, but if it doesn't go quickly, she has another with steroids. She may not be telling them how often she is using the steroid one, and apparently steroids and beta blockers are 'contra indicated' - beta blockers can cause problems with sleep patterns, and steroids can cause a different type of sleep problem.
I'm not sure if I mentioned that she has been diagnosed with chronic heart failure :-( so they are really just trying to improve the quality of her life,so she doesn't become dependent on others.
I'll finish in Shrewsbury early today, and go and see her, or maybe sister will go ;)

    Thanks for reading.

  • If we are not worrying about our children we are worrying about our parents it never seems to stop :( I always wonder at what point we become the ones that are a worry to others :)

That makes sense, gill .... I hope thats all it is ... but, ouch, in there is their awful "we're just trying to improve her quality of life" :( that must be awful to hear.

DT - yep, thats what I'm wondering, and I don't even have kids!

We once had an interesting role reversal. When Mum lived with me after Dad died, she went out with a friend one night and rang to say she'd forgotten a key. I told her I wasn't waiting up all night and if she got home after I'd gone to bed, she'd be stuck outside :D

Have been to see her and she seems fine, but keeps dozing off, so I think the
nurse may have been right. Yes, it's not a nice phrase ' to improve the quality of her life' but basically have to accept the fact that she's going to get frailer, and she's *only* 75. She lives in a bungalow though, so that is actually the best thing for her.

Going to bed now to catch up on some sleep.

KC - Thanks for popping by, had a lovely nights sleep. Off for some food, catch up with what's going on over everyone else's fence later.

    Morning

that wind during the night kept me awake for a while, but resisted the temptation to get up.

After a few weeks with less money than normal, next week should be Ok. In the last three weeks I received just over 1 weeks wages due to the snow before Christmas, and not working etc. The contract in Shropshire is now on a 'rolling 4 week notice' so at any point they can tell me the contract is finishing in 4 weeks. So, thinking that through, if they give me notice this week, I will finish on11th March and so will have money coming in until Easter. Realistically, there is still work, so I think I can plan to have at least some money until mid April, and will at least have enough notice to find other contracts. Agency have work lined up for me. The cut backs in local government are working in my favour at the moment.

So think that I should be able to save around £100 a week while this contract lasts. Will put some off the evil egg card, but put the rest away as a 'mortgage cushion'.

    Kitchen done
    Bathroom done
    Shopping list done

    To do:-
    wardrobe blitz
    ironing
attack all paintwork with hot water and some nice smelling stuff.

    I'm sure there is more:rotfl:

Have a good day if you're reading.
