                    Hey there,
My sisters shower broke last night, and she doesnt have the money to buy a new one. I have an Argos card and she has asked me to get her one and put it on my argos card.
My sister already owes me £1000 which she is paying me back at £10 per week, and last week, she asked me to get her daughter a bike on my argos card because she didnt have any money to buy her it for her birthday, so thats another £100 she owes me which again, she has said she will pay me back at £10 per week.
Im actually quite annoyed that she has asked me again to basically loan her money. She knows I hardly ever use my Argos card, and also knows if I do use it I always always always pay it off so I dont pay any interest on it. I like to keep my argos card because I sometimes use it at Christmas for the kids' toys as they sometimes do buy now pay later.
I personally think she owes me enough money and have said to her that she can always use my shower or my mums shower, but, shes not very happy and has told me im being impractical and selfish!
Am i being selfish, should I just cave in and buy her the shower and let her pay me back the money. What would other people do?

Tell her that you cannot afford to charge anything else to this card as you are now in debt.
Where is it written that you are her personal banker? Do you not have a life/expenses also?
Perhaps she could go along to https://www.zopa.com and borrow from there /post a listing?0 -
Don't even CONSIDER letting her leech any more money out off you!
Tell her to grow up and fend for herself.0 -
and is she also going to pay the interest on that card?
She doesn't need a shower if she also has a bath. She needs to start taking responsibility of her own problems and stop expecting you to help her out.0 -
I think I'd have to say no - she seems to regard you as an easy alternative to the bank!
Can't you say the card is now out of date and you haven't had the new one yet, what with the postal strikes holding things up? Don't cave in this time, you have been good to her in the past, but enough is enough!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

don't need to lie. Just tell her no!
When does she need to realise she is a grown up? She cannot expect you to bail her out everytime0 -

Could she get one of those shower attachments that fits on the bath taps? They are about a tenner (in Argos, ironicly). It would be a reasonable short term solution. I personally wouldnt be loaning any more money at the moment. she owes you plenty already."It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0

Hi Jackie, I think you already know the answer to this one IYKWIM but obviously don't want to upset your sister and want help on how to say no to her........
Just do it, say NO! let her have a tantrum, let her sulk, let her try and find a reason not to pay back the money she already owes you. Just don't give in this time.
A shower is not essential (nor is a bike) she can do without untill she can afford one.
Work out how long it's going to take her to pay back what she owes you all ready, including the interest you are paying and calmly tell her you want to help her get her life in order by not lending her anymore money for luxuries.
Be strong, it will be hard but she's you're sister, she'll get over it.;)0 -
I'm another one of the 'say no' brigade.
But she'll probably just stop paying you your £10 until she's saved up for one.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I would say no too, we use my Mum and Dads card but only on big purchases (so we can get the buy now pay later) it is paid in full at least 1 month before it is due without fail. No way on earth would I expect them to loan me so much cash and pay it back at £10 a week though
