Classic account. Not 100% perfect credit but can obtain credit elsewhere. I wanted the Gold account, but have given up now and got phone insurance etc seperately which is almost costing 3 times as much as the Gold account would have cost me.
Their loss.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

I just don't understand why they won't let you upgrade! Have you tried at LLoyds TSB branch?0 -
Just a follow-on that might help, I opened my Classic Last October, upgraded to Silver a month later, Platinum in March and Premier in July. The only upgrade I done online (As it was all it would offer me) was Silver, all the others were done by phone and I was upgraded there and then.
I have never upgraded in a Branch and my credit is Terrible !.0 -
Have you got the free interest £500 overdraft with Premier? Some people with no adverse credit history can't upgrade for whatever reason, and some who have bad credit history are able to upgrade without any problems.
It is all hit and miss by the looks of it, and by the posts on this thread, in theory customers with bad credit history can have Premier account as long they are willing to fork out £25 quid!
I reckon Lloyds TSB are dumbing down the prestige of having Premier.0 -

Yes. Have been told that my account is run excellently, however they still state they will not (not "can not", WILL NOT) upgrade my account.
Silver, is, apparently, all I am good for, even though I have surplus income of £600+ a month accumulating in the account? :rolleyes:I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Very very odd! Did they tell you the reason why they cannot upgrade your account? You can hint to them you will take your custom elsewhere if they WILL NOT upgrade your account.0

Could anyone tell me who Lloyds TSB aiming for Premier customers? I would have thought targetting customers who either have a good standing with the bank/excellent credit history and perhaps a high earner say £50,000 per annum.0

Funnily enough, at that point I decided to go to Abbey and open a current account there - the one that pays 6% AER - and was accepted no problems, spoke to Lloyds TSB and instructed them to move £2,500 by BACS to my new account. I told them why I'd opened the account and that it was to take some business away in protest.
They didn't care, did the transfer and said thank you. I'm pretty sure if I said I'd cancel my account if they didn't upgrade me, they'd just offer to close the account.
Now, I'm keeping £2,500 in Abbey, there's £1,500 in Lloyds TSB and some sundries elsewhere. Only reason I'm using LTSB now is their internet banking is better, their phone banking is better and they've more branches and seem more "on the ball", even though they can't upgrade me.
I've stopped asking them now, as I can't be bothered with them anymore.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
There is no reason why you can't have an upgrade, after all there is no specific requirements in order to have the top premier account!! (unless someone can show me the critieria of having a premier account). Its their loss anyway definitely! When you applied back in January 2009, did you get the overdraft, ava accounts on offer? It can be that once they have made a credit search at the time, if they found adverse data, then it would be more difficult to upgrade...just a theory...0

Nah, just offered Classic and Silver - Internal rating of "99 - Credit Policy Decline". Even though my old Nationwide account has a 3-in1 card, chequebook and overdraft.
Was told that that would change in 4-6 months. Which was lies.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019.
