If that comment is intended as a reply to my post, could you point out where the word 'cheapest' appears?

Sorry ive misread your post. I thought what you meant is getting mobile phone insurance for peanuts...obviously what you meant is the actual phone!

If I wanted or needed the cover, I would do look around for the best offers, which may or may not be a packaged account - as I don't (why would I want to insure a mobile phone, when they can be picked up for peanuts?), or the banks' offers are too limited for my needs (e.g. limited period travel insurance), it's irrelevant.

Not everyone has 90 day holidays and cheapo payg mobiles.

My friend who has £400 top if of the range iphone and take 14 days holiday along with two car breakdown cover does well out of the deal.

Just because it not for you doesn't mean some people can't save money.

You seem to make a lot of assumptions. I don't have a mobile phone at all, as I simply hate the things. If I did have one, I certainly wouldn't want some overpriced piece of transient technological junk that marketing departments, such as Apple's, tried to persuade me was 'cool' or a 'must have'.

If you read my posts, all of my references were to the value (or, rather, lack thereof) of packaged accounts to myself, not to anyone else. As I previously said, if packaged bank accounts met my needs, they would be considered along with other deals - as they don't, they won't.
  • I agree that the iphone is much more about good marketing hence I have a mainstream nokia phone.

Your statement was you think the banks should pay yo not other way around suggested that these packages are not worth paying for which in some cases isn't true.

It doesnt seem good money saving advice to tell people not to pay the bank for any services as they should pay you as some people might be better off.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
Opened account in January - Putting between £1,200 and £1,700 a month in it - always ran in 4 figures... still won't upgrade me LOL
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Which account are you holding? Classic? Do you have a decent credit history? You wanted to upgrade to Premier?
  • Am holding a premier account with lloyds and am very happy with the account !! It does give yo some excellent benefits and think it's truely worth it for the money you pay, if they let you upgrade that is !! Also i have the same olympic card now but think the old premier card used to look much better and also had the word prmier written on it !! The new card is a bit of disappointment really IMO ..
