    :beer::j:j Well done Bitsy!

Well, the HFW ginger cake is in the oven and smells gorgeous! I can see now why he says it's "not for the faint-hearted" though. Started off by weighing golden syrup and black treacle.....that was fun.....then putting the syrup and treacle and rum and unsalted butter in a saucepan to melt over a low heat....then after it's cooled a little, add the rum (ah....I wasn't meant to have put the rum in already then!) and 2 beaten eggs.... then I'm meant to add the melted mixture from the saucepan to the flour, allspice, ground ginger and pinch of salt....hang on, what about the sugar? Ah.....I was meant to have put that in the saucepan to melt as well ! So into the saucepan of treacly mix went the sugar, and back on a low heat to melt it! I think all was well that ended well, and I didn't make too much mess :o! He says the cake improves after a couple of days, so will try to resist cutting it as soon as it's cold! I'll give half of it to DD1 and family, as she specially asked for a ginger cake next time i baked, having made banana bread last time.

Making it took my mind off several things I'm worrying about atm, so that was good.

DH has a pizza for dinner tonight, and i'll have either soup or scrambled eggs. My lunch was a rhubarb fool from Mr S :D

Marie - Glad your knee and hip feel a bit easier today...Hope you find your prescription!

ageandjo - It's so nice to have you posting again! Wedding plans sound very exciting!

    Hi

Just calling in after a busy non-OS couple of days - 14 hours at work yesterday and a normal shift today, so have got some catching up to do now with this thread and household stuff. Weekend off thankfully.

Breakfast today was a jam doughnut (couldn't waste it :D) and porridge, lunch was beans on toast and dinner will be whatever I can find in the fridge that needs eating ( could be interesting ).

(((hugs))) to everyone who is not having a good day, Bitsy - congratulations on your good result :j.

Off to find something OS to do now :D

    :j Well Done to Bitsy.

Went shopping for deals at Sainsburys and got Gouda slices, BOGOF sliced cooked ham, YS sausages and YS cooked mackerel fillets, pack of turkey mince, chicken breast, button mushrooms and some YS carrots and broccoli as well as a stew pack of veg.

Made baked potato and mackerel for tea, cooked the pack of sausages in the Remoska and cooled then put them in the fridge for tomorrow.

Made a huge pot of soup with some of the veg, tried some and the rest is cooling ready to go in the fridge for later tonight or tomorrow.

Chicken will be used to make a curry at the weekend and turkey mince for meatballs or a lasagne.

DH,DDs and me will probably visit Aunt's bungalow tomorrow and do some more clearing up and see how the new kitchen is going. If DH can drop me off in Redcar or Whitby for an hour I can look for a new duvet, sheets and cushion pads for DDs bed.

Youngest DD is out with a schoolfriend, her mother will bring her back home later, so nice and peaceful.

    Hugs to everyone.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Evening peeps

I managed to get home almost half an hour early so i`ve had a good sleep and the Birthday boy has just fed me, not really got any appetite but i ate most of it. Thanks for all the Birthday wishes for DH, he is happily sorting through his fishing bag getting ready for his trip.

Thanks too everyone for the well wishes over the last couple of days, i usually never get bugs like this so i must have managed to get really run down.

Sistercas - Hope that your friend manages to sort out the situation ((((HUGS)))) for her.

Mioliere / Donny Gal / Redruby/ Bitsy - I know that really i would have been better off staying at home but we are really short staffed atm and i didn`t want to put the extra pressure on the others. - if i can get through the next day or two i should be on the mend. Night nurse and beechams powders are my new best friends lol.

Haribo - Enjoy your first night on the new mattress ;)

Taplady - Hope that you feel better soon.

Nomoneymummy - ((((HUGS)))) for your DD

Bitsy - Great news, well done :j

Cranky & George - Thinking of you both ((((HUGS))))

I`m going to have a cuppa and a shower and then sleep until i have to go back to w*rk in the morning.

Diva - ((((HUGS)))) for your friend, you will be a great help to her.

    Evening!

I am sitting in my pjs with feet up on the coffee table after a battle with a HUGE spider in the lounge - he won:mad: and is now lurking under the TV unit. I couldn't get him with my spider catcher! One of DSs friends called (but he was out) and I almost asked him to remove it but felt daft and he probably thought I was a nutter in my pjs with the spider catcher in hand looking frazzled:D (although I have in the past asked the postman to get rid of one:o)so I will be on edge now till he's been caught. DH is in bed as he's up at the crack of dawn so its me versus the spider:eek:
I hope everyone else is having a pleasant evening!

    Bitsy- well done!:T
