It caused a huge row last night as I patiently tried to explain that it paid for bills and food, but they were having none of it - strange cos usually they're fine and they do understand about bills and stuff, all I can assume is they'd been told something by someone, anyway I eventually lost my rag with them and phoned their dad and told him he needed to explain that I wasn't stealing their "pocket money"! Fair play to him though, he put them straight immediately - they then decided not to talk to me, argh! Normal service seems to have been resumed this morning though, and I shall discuss things with them again tonight. I'm still confused about why they suddenly seemed to think it was their money?!
Just a quick one, two of my dd's classmates familys are very well off, and both of them recieve all the maintenance money from their fathers as pocket money, one is over £600 per month , ( the same girl has also been bought a house in Portsmouth as an investment ). Maybe someone at your kids school recieves the money from their dad too.
DD came home and questioned why she did not recieve her dads money, a quick lesson in household accounts soon put her straight

:hello:Good morning!
Windy and sunny-ish here today. My jaw is rather sore atm - must have talked too much when I was with Churchmouse yesterday
- no, seriously, I think it's because I'm quite stressed atm and tend to clench my teeth when I'm asleep . I'm taking ibuprofen and eating soft food - had porridge for brekkie but don't know what else I'll have today, will probably have to be soup
Other plans - hopefully nip to Aldi for some veg (which I won't be able to eat) and maybe make the HFW ginger cake which I was planning to do on Wednesday but other things intervened  (i.e., I hadn't the energy after trying loads of pairs of jeans on at Bluewater)
Jayne and George - Thinking of you, getting on with your normal routine sounds the best thing for you atm xx
Bargainbird - I hope things get sorted soon so that the funeral can be arranged, must be so difficult stuck in this "in-between time"
Penny_Pincher - Well done for getting the essay done! And I forgot to say the other day, well done to your DD for being made a prefect - she's such a credit to you, you must be so proud of her.
Catznine - How lovely to see you posting! Congrats to your DD, and hope both weddings go well - I'm sure you'll all have a great time, but try not to get overtired yourself, won't you? I was exhausted for weeks after DD's wedding, just because I'd had to stay up and be sociable long after I'd normally have gone to bed!
anniestar - I hope you and Mark had a more restful night! Glad he's doing ok atm.
bitsy beans and nomoneymummy - at least your little ones weren't in tears from stagefright
(((HUGS))) to all who aren't well atm or are looking after ill children.
Haribo Junkie and Grandmasam - Enjoy your new mattresses
Diva - What a lovely friend you are.
Lowesy - Have a lovely weekend!
Will try to pop back later. :wave:0 -
Not quite caught up yet! But gonna make another cuppa in a mo and read back! Refried beans are made, chicken is defrosting, extra carefully covered as the kittens were looking ready to pounce, wraps dough just resting, found some more pork belly in the freezer and so will be giving the Hugh recipe for home cured bacon a go with it later, must get some salt!
Redruby - thank you for that, you might well be right, we are very lucky to live in quite an affluent area (shame I let the side down though!) and many of the children at the kids schools seem to have limitless funds, so perhaps that is what has happened. Also appears there was some more confusion, as kids' dad told them that rather than me having to ask for half for whatever they wanted then he would give them an allowance, this is on condition that they use it to buy clothes and necessary items like school shoes - hmmm, can anyone see the problem with that???? The idea is a good one though! ds was under the impression that the allowance would be a quarter of what I am currently given, ie that the money would go straight to him to spend on his own upkeep! Will be pointing out tonight that that would make him responsible for paying rent and food and bills as well as buying his clothes and other stuff! It has been a bit of funny week in some ways, and the accusation that I was misappropriating the children's money was just a wee bit too much!
Rightho, have promised oh and dd1 some danish pastries, so best pull my finger out and go and make some! Will have to drink tea and catch up as I go!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Well I left for school pick up in a lovely mood as we were being sung too my the nursery lot showing us all the songs they've learn't so far, Little Em's was singing too me while we made potato cakes last night so was very much looking forward to it (hoping for no nose picking repeats!!) Bit crazy doing songs straight after poetry day but ho hum!!!
She was sat next to a little girl who kept shoving her and saying "your not my friend" teachers did nothing and i kept sctum as shes normally uber confidant.... little so and so pushed her of the bench too the floor then kicked her while she was down!!! GRRRRRRR
Trying not be be a clingy mummy as shes my last (haven't been so far) but that really got me mad.. teachers still did nothing so I got up picked her up and sat her on my knee as there were no spaces away from the girl.... really sodding mad!! Kids parents were behind me and actually laughed... double GRRRRRR!!!!!
On the plus side heard from the headteacher about funny thing DD1 did in assembly this am, as I mentioned there dressed as their heros and she went as Florence Nightingale, Head asked all superheros to stand up.... Florence (DD1) stood up!, when asked why she said, "Florence saved lots of soldiers in the war by teaching hygiene so shes a superhero!!! Good girl!!!
Well gonna bake some biscuits with little dd and sing on our own till next school pick up!!! May even tidy the house to keep in OH's good books!!!
Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone

....Ended up hosting another person so had to get dd's room  fit for visitors (she just went to Uni). Nerve racking time trying to find room for the 43rd German. A host family pulled out, leaving me with 2 spare people. Hmm...
Can I assume (as a past-resident!) that these visitors are from the town that the roundabout by Orford Green is named after?!
Have a fab week with them

Made an almond cake, kids aren't so keen on almonds so it shall be mine all mine! Has to be cheaper than buying almond slices, and probably not so fattening as well!
Made up some rolls for lunch, should oh appear in the next few mins I shall feed him too, otherwise he's going to miss out and have to feed himself! Going to have with leftovers of last night's lasagne from oh's mum, bless her, she now puts the leftovers into tupperware pots for me, I almost had heart failure when she said she'd throw them away as they'd never eat it all the first time I ate there!
Also got ds's chilli sauce on the go, doing it on the hob instead of the jam maker as making a huge amount so that oh can take some into work for his pot washer, who comes from somewhere where the food is very very spicy, and really misses the sauces! I think oh is secretly a bit of a softy!!! Just used scotch bonnets in it, so heat will be tremendous if the smell is anything to go by!
Going to browse Hugh and Nigel for a bit and listen to the radio, boring hoovering can wait!

Afternoon all.
Happy Birthday Mr Sunnyday.
((((HUGS)))) for all who are sad/hurting/poorly, especially thinking of Cranky and Bargainbird.
Pen-Pin well done on finishing your essay and getting it in on time. You have much more self-discipline than I do.:o
I actually look a little more human today, as Mr LW coloured my hair for me last night, YAY!! no more grey:j For now, at least.
He was saying that at some point he's going to have to do the overnight checking for w*rk, which will involve him sitting at his computer from 21:00 to 02:00 (at home, thankfully) so we'll see how much that disrupts our lives. At one time I'd have taken it in my stride, but I'm a little apprehensive now. Oh well, we'll find out, when he eventually has to do it.
Not sure what's for dins tonight, but I'm thinking of making chocolate mousse for pud, as a treat.
Meanwhile, my nails need doing - so I'm off now to find out if I can manage the nail clippers today.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
