Morning all...\though still feels like last night!
Youngest DD seems to be coming down with something, has been up now since 5 coughing her little head off... sure she's going to blow chunks at some point by the sound/looks of her so I'm hovering about with a bowl!!
OH is in a grumpy mood again, being woken up through the night not suiting him, would think he'd be used to it by now having gone through it once but nope!!
Its Dress up day in school today, Hero themed.... was trying to find something different from superheros/nurses/doctors.firefighter etc as know we'll get tons of them so picked up from this terms history topic and eldest DD is going as Florence Nightingale.. only spent a week on the dress and bonnet (thankfully had a tin lantern someone bought me last xmas!)#
Sorry to hear about everyones probs, sistercas don't know if its any help but FRANK the phoneline/website has lots of good advice and can get your friend intouch with people who can help..
Made homemade potato cakes for the first time ever last night (many firsts happening since finding this forum!)... kids loved and so did OH, still have some leftover for lunch today for youngest, eldest is on chese an cucumber sandwich + the rest of luncbox bits.... still working on the hot packed lunch thing... thinking of waiting till half term and if its a bad winter will just bring her home for hot lunches, know that one of her friends mums has same dilema so will see about the possibility pooling mummy resources!!
Work all weekend for me.. hoping to get to the farm sunday when I finish at lunchtime if the weather is good so fingers crossed!!, have to do lots of cooking today to stock up for everyone, really hoping youngest DD doesn't get too bad, really cant afford time off and man bloody useless when it comes to kids and illness... grrrrr!!!
Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone

Hopefully the weekend will be a bit better weather wise, I dont mind the cold, but get fed up with rain, no heating here yet, but then it has been very warm up to now, still 8 degrees first thing yesterday morning, and the afternoon was like a summer day.
Hugs to Jayne and Little George, thinking of you both xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Just a quick one from me. had awful nights sleep, DD was making noises from 4am and that woke me up. Back has been painful since sleeping in DS bed the other night (well early morning) and was painful early hours with pain down the one leg. Tried to ignore it but couldn't get comfy so ended up putting on Ibuprophen gel at around 5am. DS then up at 6.15 so all in all I feel shattered. Have a headache too which on a day when Ofsted might come is definately not what I need.
Lamb chops for kids in SC. I am off out tonight to see Andy Williams so will be catching the train into Brum and meet H in town (no point him lugging himself and the car all the way back to me just to drive all the way back - waste of petrol and given traffic etc probably more than his patience is worth ) So no idea what to have for tea, it's seating on a first come first served basis so think food might have to wait.
Anyway had better go and drag myself in the shower and do my risk assessment checklist. Oh joy one of the reasons I became a CM was for sooooooooo much paperwork
Diva - sorry about your friend but you are such a good friend to her. You seem like a really restful and calm person to be around - like a real tonic in times of stress.
Sunnyday - Sorry but you don't sound like you should be going into work if you ask me. Happy birthday to Mr SD though
Sistercas - how awful for you friend x
Penny - good luck with your essay.
mioliere - I agree that creme fraiche is fab for sauces. I use with pasta or stuff that needs a little bit of cream. Even better that they do a half fat version
nic1lou2 - enjoy your break. I'd love one but haven't the funds
donny-gal - sounds like you're having a fab time. Am quite envious
Jayne & George - still thinking of you guys xx
Well better get a wriggle on. Coffee to drink and hair to wash.
Have a good day OS or not. Hugs to those that need them.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Morning everybody,
Just came upstairs from gardening, showered and washed hair and DH has suggested tea at the club. I won't look a gift horse in the mouth so said yes.
I've made tea but I'll keep that for tomorrow. I made stuffed zucchini's. Yes I know, but I'm getting desperate. They're multiplying as I type.
Made bread & granola so had morning in the kitchen. After lunch moved out into the yard.
Sunny I'd chuck a sickie. Happy Birthday to Mr SD.
TiredMum I'm on facebook too. I'll have a snoop around and add you.
Nic Enjoy your break.
Off to have a wine. Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs> to those not well. Especially Cranky. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Morning all

Had a better nights sleep last night and woke up at 6.30am so I feel a bit more 'with it' today;)
Just had a shock, I walked into the bedroom and twiddled the blinds to open them and there was the window cleaner :rotfl: I don't know who was more shock, me or him seeing me in a shocking pink nightie that barely covers anything :rotfl::rotfl:
OH bought me a huge box of bold from bookers yesterday, he said it was on offer only £9 for a giant box, he is learning :T
Need to get some fresh bread and pop it into mums today ready for when they arrive back from holiday in the morning, I have to collect them from Gatwick at around 5am:eek:
Will put a hot wash on in a while and get out and do some work, not travelled too far with work this week so I must pull my finger out for next week.
I hope you all have a fab Friday:D0 -
:wave:Morning all (evening Aussie)
Wine already Aussie?
I haven't had any all week so tonight's bottle will be all the nicer.
We've just had Scotch pancakes (drop scones) for breakfast. Haven't had them for years because of the eggs, but dd seems to be OK with them now so a whole collection of cooking opportunities has opened up. Ooh, they are lovely, much nicer than American pancakes although very similar. I like them spread with butter and golden syrup.
My mum used to make them for Saturday teatime and we would eat them in the front room me and my brother on the rug, watching the football scores-I can hear that bloke's voice now.....
Came over all nostalgic just then. The kids loved them and there are a few left for after school to have with jam.
Lunchboxes have ham sandwiches, flapjacks and fruit, plus a chunk of cheese and a few nuts for the boys.
Supper will be mackerel with olive salsa, baked potatoes and coleslaw/sweetcorn/sliced tomatoes
Must feed my sour dough and make some ordinary loaves which I didn't get round to yesterday.
Also must clean the bathroom using my new Method cleaning stuff. I am actually looking forward to this:o
Must change our bed and hoover and buy wine;)
Have a good day all. Thinking of you Jayne and George.
Any good dreams last night Anniestar?

Morning all,
You're still not seeing much of me round these places. Youth ORchestra exchange about to kick off and I've been mad busy getting that sorted plus getting the house ready for visitors. Food too of course!. I go to the resid. centre tonight so I'm there when the German crew arrives in the morning. Then it's a week out of my life. I hate to wish my life away, but will be relieved when it's over.
Ended up hosting another person so had to get dd's room  fit for visitors (she just went to Uni). Nerve racking time trying to find room for the 43rd German. A host family pulled out, leaving me with 2 spare people. Hmm
Well, laundry is caught up and you can see the kitchen counters. Still some finishing off to do and some food shopping. In work for a couple of hours, so will do that on the way home. Meal plan needed first though. Also will have to do packed lunches and so on next week. I hate having people around in the morning, so breakfast time is the biggest challenge I think.
DH has been away all week and will be away Mon-Wed next week, this doesn't help.
It'll all happen I supppose.
have a good day, good weekend etc"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I hoped Donny would still be on line
I had a minor procedure at the Doc;s yesterday, so had to rest. I spent the time listening to the radio and making this:
It'd the first thing I've crocheted that isn;t a Granny Square - Donny, are you proud of your protegee :rotfl:
Hugs to all, especially Cranky and George :A

Morning all!
Looks like it's going to be another nice day here. Big kids all left for school, just dd3 to wake and pack off.
Very productive afternoon yesterday, whilst oh sorted out my oil change (shhh, don't tell, but I do know how to do it myself, but he wanted to help by doing it for me, so why not!) I chopped the billion and one items of veg I've bought cheap recently and bagged, labelled and froze them, with appropriate blanching as required, made a moski full of roast veg, was going to freeze them but ds saw them and immediately requested that he eat them in some guise, so offered roast veg lasagne for Sunday, will make it up before I go to collect them from their dad and then I can have a nice hot meal ready for when we get home. Made and froze the extra cauli and broccoli cheese and bunged the gammon in the fridge, will slice up for sarnies today, no point trying to put it through the slicer till it's really chilled as it just makes a mess!
Kids came home and dd3 made some fairy cakes (found some silicone cases finally in our local little Asda £2.50 for 12) and I made up a mincemeat braid, usually I make two from the dough, but was in a hurry so just did one, boy is it huge! dd1 was overjoyed with it though and oh had a huge slice when we got home too, will actually get to put the icing on it today whilst they're all out! It did smell lovely whilst it was baking though, very festive ;o)
Today I shall be doing more washing and ironing, stuff the kids need for the weekend no doubt, I expect it's suddenly appeared in their washbasket! Not that I feel much like doing anything for ds and dd2, they know that their dad gives me money and were under the impression that it was actually meant to be divided between the four of them as pocket money! It caused a huge row last night as I patiently tried to explain that it paid for bills and food, but they were having none of it - strange cos usually they're fine and they do understand about bills and stuff, all I can assume is they'd been told something by someone, anyway I eventually lost my rag with them and phoned their dad and told him he needed to explain that I wasn't stealing their "pocket money"! Fair play to him though, he put them straight immediately - they then decided not to talk to me, argh! Normal service seems to have been resumed this morning though, and I shall discuss things with them again tonight. I'm still confused about why they suddenly seemed to think it was their money?!
Right, anyway, I shall also be chucking the hoover around and S&S the kitchen, planning on giving it a good clean on Saturday whilst I have the house to myself. Need to measure the plynth under the french windows so it can be replaced, oh's step dad has some wood that would be suitable if it's the right size, and has also offered to help, so need to get on with that quickly!
Lunches today: cheese, cucumber, rocket and beetroot stuffed pittas for the big kids, gammon rolls for dd3 (she'd eat the pittas but I can just see the stuffing falling out as she chats and waves them around!), apple/satsuma/plums, dd3's fairy cakes, and a pack of crisps.
Dinner will be Mexican something I suspect, then I can make guacamole from my whoopsied avocados, will make up some spicy salsa and some wraps this morning, plenty of chilli in the freezer but kids want chicken, so will have a dig in the freezer and get out some of the chicken I jointed, if I slice it up whilst frozen it won't take long to defrost. I shall prob have some of the roast veg in mine, oh will have a mix of everything. Will also grab some mixed beans from the freezer and do refried beans, as dd1 pointed out, it won't be a proper mexican otherwise!
Anyway, best despatch dd3, have a good day all, will be back with a cuppa later to catch up xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Morning all.
Another one who couldn't sleep, here.
I've got so many things going on, that I'm trying to mentally tick them off and probably overloading so not being able to relax.
We're off to see friends this morning, which will be nice, then have friends coming over at tea time, so it's definitely takeaway, as I don't have the energy to cook for another four
I found someone who offered screen printing yesterday, but they were quite expensive, however another home edder gave me details of somewhere in Worcester which will be cheaper but requires travelling.
We quite often have to travel to places, but it does have an affect, and if I've had a busy day, it takes a while to recover, still, I would like DDs to try their hand at the screen printing so will make some enquiries.
At some point, I need to get a few ingredients in, as DDs like to cook on a weekend with their friends. Other than that, it's a fairly easy day.
((((HUGS)))) to all who need them.
Enjoy your day
