In the control panel I only have the option 'sound' not audio devices, in that tab i have 'recordings' 'playback' and 'sounds' the sound tab is set to windows default. The 'playback' speakers are Realtek high definition audio and says they are working, double clicking on the speakers i have the options of General/levels/enhancements and advanced, all features within there as far as I can tell are set correctly. Anymore idea's?

When you hit configure there then should be a test button and if you hit that you should hear a little tone first out of the left speaker and then the right

    Does it do that

Did you have any joy with the flash plug in?

Yes I have that version already installed, updated yesterday. Gone through lots of stuff in control panel this evening and I can't seem to find any obvious problems! Do you think I may need to take a trip to the laptop doctor?

Have you checked the registry as outlined here under Solution 3?

Ok followed all instructions and got to the 'new string value' add wavemapper but when I try to add this it says file already exists cannot continue, although i cannot see it in the right hand panel. Interestingly (or not) when I type wavemapper into the search area on the start menu, it says file missing???

Ok the drivers on the realtek audio need updating, can't find a toshiba website that doesn't want me to down load some kind of driver robot for a fee to update drivers!
