I wrote that message/plea in an emotional angry state, If you had half a brain you would see that. I frankly don't care if you think I'm being silly for feeling annoyed at someone damaging my property, why should I not want an apology???? Some one has been careless to the point of ruining a document I sent in perfect condition....am I being soft here?
Ruthha....your comment was about what?? I'm sorry, I must have posted in the wrong section did I??? I'm not asking you to worry about me dear, I was just asking for help, and what kind of a comment is that 'a bit like rubbers may have helped in your married life'???? go and bother someone who actually wants to read you drivel.
Right, well off to another forum who actually want to help and not criticise, you lot should be ashamed of yourselves, bunch of A holes!
Jesus is it no wonder you did not get much help with an attitude like yours,if i was dvla and had to deal with you I would have made sure the cert got 'lost' in the post,
go to your other forum BUT learn a bit of servility otherwise you will get the same there:mad:IMOJACAR

id be peeved, i wont let mine out my sight, and im taking it to china next week so ill have plenty of photocopies to give the authorities, but they aint getting the original unless it stays in eye contact.
if you do need to send originals through the post, i always photograph their condition beforehand, luckily ive not had your problem tho.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

OP - can you prove that the damage was done at the DVLA? Have you got anything to show that it was in pristine condition before it was sent? If not, then I guess it will be your word against theirs and will get you not much more than a long protracted argument. If you want to take it on, then I would suggest you make it easy for them to do what you want i.e providing them with all the info about how to get a replacement and the costs involved etc to minimise the probability of someone dismissing your request because it seems complicated. Out of interest (if you're still reading) do you know how much it would cost to replace?0

Just curious:
why do you need your marriage certificate in China?
I'm sure I didn't take mine when we went last year.0 -

Ah, I see.
Sorry to go off-topic, too.0 -
So because I didn't WORD it exactly how you wanted me to you decided to not to help me?? Pollycat, you really are a vile person. Its is YOU who has for some reason turned this around and making me out to be someone I'm not and EVERYONE bar a few have jumped on you shi*ty band wagon. If you read my original post I was just asking for some help, hardly an unreasonable question regarding the topic I posted under. I was fine until she banged on about me contradicting myself.
Hey Pollycat and anyone else who thinks I have no issue, send me a few of your precious items round and I will quite happily ruin them for you, see how you feel then. I know its not the end of the world, believe me...I have things going on in my life which are a lot worse but that doesn't mean I don't have the right to be annoyed by this.
You have no idea about me or my life so to say that my WORDS were histrionic is just plain stupid, I also don't need to get a grip. I am hardly up in arms and shouting from the highest roof tops, I'm just asking a forum of people I thought would be able to help me.
At the end of the day, all I wanted was to take this further, if someone was to accuse you of being a liar after THEY ruined a precious item would you not be angry??
I actually feel like I've jumped into a anti-MoneySavingExpert forum, hopefully I will find the real one soon!!!!0 -

Read the WHOLE thread will you....you will see that I asked a question and got no constructive replies whatsoever. I didn't come on to get sh*t off people, I came on for advice.
Btw...servility?? Think you have the wrong word there!0 -
If you're going to have (another) go at me, at least do me the courtesy of reading my original post.
I queried your reasoning that at first all you wanted was an apology (so presumably you'd have kept the stained certificate) but when that wasn't forthcoming, you suddenly wanted a copy.
I honestly couldn't see what difference an apology would make to a stained marriage certificate. And still can't.
I (quite reasonably I thought) asked if you'd rather have the original (admittedly complete with stains) or a copy.
I know what I would have rather had in the same circumstances - and it wouldn't be a copy.
I also mentioned the difficulty of getting a replacement certificate from New York. This may have some bearing on whether the DVLA agree to pay for a copy - should you ever get them to admit they caused the damage.
And - at that point, you went 'off on one'.ninestonecreature wrote: »So because I didn't WORD it exactly how you wanted me to you decided to not to help me?? Pollycat, you really are a vile person. It's not a case of wording it how I wanted it at all. I just couldn't see why, because you didn't get an apology, you wanted a replacement certificate - but we've been round this loop before, haven't we?
If anyone has turned this around, it's you and your stroppy attitude.
I didn't decide not to help you.
In fact, I think you'll find that, even though you've been rude, I've given you a number of links to places that may be able to help you get a replacement copy.
I actually said I appreciated how you felt in my first post (Ah, but that'll be the one you didn't read properly before going off on one).
I didn't tell you to 'get a grip' in any of my posts.
I assume you got no joy from the other forum. :rolleyes:0 -

I had to send off my marriage certificate to the DVLA for a change of address and name on my provisional license, it was sent in pristine condition as we had only got married 2 months previous in NY, and had the document stored in a folder uncreased and untouched.
Ovbiously I had to crease it down the middle to send it, but when I received the document back it had a small orange blemish at the top of the certificate which actually had a strong aroma of curry, there were bits of crumbs that fell out of the envelope, small blots around the edges of the certificate and a few small creases.
That's horrible. I hate sending off valuable documents. If it's a bank or something like that I always ask if I can take it into a local branch and they can certify it and send it on. I don't think the DVLA has local branches though, does it? And anyway it's too late now.
There's a web page at www dot health dot state dot ny dot us/ vital_records/marriage.htm where you might be able to get a replacement and then I hope you will be able to make the DVLA reimburse you for the cost. Good luck.0
