Really easy Panasonic BM Banana Bread

I'm just trying this now in my Panny, with chopped stem ginger pieces in it. It seemed really quite dry after a few minutes so I added a tbsp of water - it's still pretty stiff but I'm crossing my fingers. Will post later once I know how it turns out!

It's quite heavy, I had to do the whole quality control thing and try some, so I had the end piece and then a second slice. But I washed it down with a glass of water so it expanded a bit and I'm not going to eat anything else until dinner time (no lunch today, brekkie wasn't until 11). It wasn't cooked at 55 mins so I gave it another 10, next time I might just try an extra 7 or 8 mins."...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -

Sp pleased i found this thread.
Got my panny this week haven't stopped using it but was really disappointed that the lush recipes that came with the breadmaker didn't include banana bread.
Going to make it this afternoon also really love the idea of adding fudge.Kind Regards

When I press the on button again it will not let me change any settings and seems to go on bake cycle for 4 hrs. Will not let me press any buttons. I have to leave the bread maker off for 20 minutes to that the settings are lost. There must be an easier way ??
I'm just picked up on this thread and have made the recipe (superb!!).
I had the same as you but checking p5 of the manual it tells you once you've pressed and held the "stop" button you just press "select" and the display lights back up again and lets you chose something different. I tried this and it works fine. I know once you've held the stop button down it looks powered off, and the obvious thing to do is press the start button, but you just press select and start from there.0 -
it's been ages since I logged in to the forum because I became so addicted to it last time! but here I am again - drawn back yet again by this lovely recipe. For ages I had it on the fridge - eventally etched in my brain!!!! Due to busy college life even this easy recipe became unused - (mainly cos the kids would nick all the bananas before they ripened enough for me to use them, lol) but today, armed with two lovely brown bananas I decided to hunt the recipe down again. If you've not tried it yet, please do. IT's so lush and easy my friend who doesn't own a pani now cooks it in her 'normal' oven. Pretty good for her as her family ususally turn their nose up at fruit, lol.
Thanks again thistledown for the recipe - I still remember your old avatar, lol!!!January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far)

You know you can make banana bread in an oven too don't you?;)
You could make several at once and freeze them.

Kazonline:T:j Lovely to see you post again, try not to leave it so long next time:D:D I've never tried banana bread, love bananas but haven't fancied trying the bread. On the basis of this thread I think I'll give it a try:D
thriftlady, I think Kaz realises they can be cooked in a normal oven because she says her friend does this;) But I really am going to have to convince you that we don't all have freezers with capacity for large batchbakes of the same thing ( or in my case even large batchbakes of different things:rotfl:)Some people, heaven forfend, don't even have freezers:eek::D There's a thought, can you be the new OS without a large freezer and copious pantry space?
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
At the risk of getting a row...... 'hiya'!!!!!!! ooo look at you churchmouse - loadsa medals and stars!!!!
Right, back to thread topic... ummm, brilliant idea batch cooking them in the overn. Thanks to the OS forum and realising the importance of utalising all of the overn whenever it's used I now buy all oven trays/ tins etc in batches of at least three (one for each shelf). Have yet to establish whether it is cost effective (cost of trays V cost heating oven) - especially when you factor in that it usually means eating three times as many cakes/biccies etc and then spending a fortune on dieting.....
Somehow I think that in my case (OSer that seems to have fallen a long way off the wagon) sticking to one loaf in the panni might be the most economical, - saving pounds on the waist as well as the purse, lol.

Cooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeee back at ya.I love Banana Cake so should love this recipe. Although when my bread maker died I just started doing it by hand. Will give it a try when I have a heap of banana's spare.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0
