OS Daily Thread - Wednesday 7th October

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 7th October. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning all.
Cranky - Thank you for keeping us up to date. Hearing how George took the news made tears come to my eyes. I can only imagine how hard things are for you at the moment and my heart goes out to you and your husbands family. We are still keeping a candle burning for you and George here.
to Janiebaby and Stokegal - I hope you carry on posting here now you have found us.
Aussie - The ET reference made me smile..
Beth/Floss - I love Alan Bennett too, he is fab
Julie - hope you feel better soon hon.
Jayward - Glad I could help a little
MrsMix - my other half LOVES your siggy
angeltreats - we had a 1970s gas fire and our old cat used to jump up and lie along the top of it looking like a baby seal whenever it was on. But she never jumped up on the kitchen table or any surface in the kitchen, she was good like that, and neither does Treacle.
Stokegal - I am so impressed with all your batch cooking. Well done you!
sunflower - Great news re. the cancer hon.
Squiggles, Lesley, 3Jays, Sybil
The visit with my OT went well today, she is going to write a letter on my behalf to the agency saying his behaviour was inappropriate. She is so lovely, my OH was late home from work so she made us both a cup of tea. I miss 'older' female company. (Guess I just miss my mum really)
My spicy chicken wings went down well though I may have over estimated how strong my home grown chillies were as they were very spicy!
We had them with some potato wedges and I added some bbq sauce to my tin of baked beans to complete the offering.
Rain stopped play garden wise but am determined to get out today. I have peppers and chillis and the last of the tomatoes to harvest and still want to sort out the plant pots and tubs for next year. And check all my baby lavenders in the greenhouse.
WM is on and a cheese and onion loaf in the BM which I shall have for lunch.
Don't forget to say 'I love you' to someone special today. Lots of warm gentle
for anyone who wants one!

Good morning:hello:
Have been awake since 3am so have just come down for a milky drink. Didn't go out last night after all as OH came home worried about some issues at work so we just ended up talking things over for ages. Hopefully things will be better today.
OS stuff will be limited today as I have to collect DD2 from college straight after work and take her shopping - she needs a leotard for ballet. Then we hope her car will be ready. Dinner will be chicken chasseur - already prepped, just needs flinging in the SC at some point.
Welcome to Janiebaby & Stokegal
Jayne - thank you for updating us, still thinking of you, (((hugs)))
nic1 - hope you've had a better night
Back to bed now, hopefully will get an hour's more sleep before the alarm goes off :undecided
Have a good day everyone

Good morning everyone and special (((hugs))) and thoughts to Jayne and little George.
Welcome to Janiebaby and Stokegal. Hope you enjoy it here.
MSD - glad your visit to OT went well.
I didn't have much time on here yesterday, due to working on the renovations here - then clearing up afterwards, then going food shopping in the afternoon. I spent €116 (!) but must be stocked up with meat for at least a couple of months. I hadn't done a proper shop since our friends stayed for a week, so stocks were running very low. I think I have everything I need and shouldn't need another food shop - apart from buying milk, fruit and veg, for ages.
I got back too late to portion everything, so all the meat was shoved in the fridge and I'll sort it all out this morning. I've got really in to buying a whole chicken and jointing it, rather than lazily buying joints and missing out on the extra meat you get when using a whole one.
Dinner today will be a roast chicken legs, roast potatoes, runner beans that I froze a few weeks ago, and cabbage, with gravy.
I'm going to be spending the morning cooking - cakes and puddings, plus I want to make a sweet potato and red pepper soup. The afternoon will be spent doing some online work. And - all of a sudden - it will be the day again; I don't know where the time goes.
Well, I can feel the kettle calling - see you all later.

Morning all,
I can hear thunder in the distance so hopefully we'll get a good shower of rain out of it. Made a banana cake this morning. DH went down to DS2 house this afternoon to turn his hot water off and there was another huge hand of banana's on his tree. So he grabbed them. Lucky I'm meeting up with DSis tomorrow as she's now got a gift of a heap of zucchini's as well as bananas. Lucky her.
I also tried to clean the chair upholstery of our formal dining suite. Not much success. I'd like to buy some covers for it but I've searched the internet and can't see anything. Might have better luck in the shops. Probably take me a year to decide which ones I want but hey ho, all in good time.Tonight's tea is leftovers so that's all done. Off to make an afternoon cuppa.
Tiredmum I hope everything pans out with DS & he gets the help he needs.
Cranky <hugs> Thinking of you. xx
Hope everyone has a nice day whatever you're doing. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Wet outside but not raining (as yet) finger crossed I will be able to hang some washing out.
WM just going on with some cloths for a boil wash and I want to brown some mince off and make a chili in the SC for tonights dinner.

Morning all,
Cranky, I am so sorry for your loss ((hug)) you and george are in my thoughts.
Sunflower - that's great news
Been a hectic few days here - and I have been very stressed. OH's divorce is getting somewhat stressful now and he's not even here to sort out his mess.
I haven't finished my chutney, it's still on the stove in a pan and I didn't hang out the last load of laundry.
I am going to find a radiator to cuddle as it's freezing in my office.
Have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

(((Cranky & George)))
Wet & miserable here again today. Have some office work to do this morning then going to make the filling for steak pie & make the pastry. Have always bought premade before so wish me luck.
Have loads of ironing still so hope to do that this afternoon, have a lovely Hopi Ear Candle session booked at 12.15 so am really looking forward to that. It really does help my sinus' from blocking.
Other than that will try and so some housework, the kitchen floor definately needs doing with the all rain - muddy footprints everywhere.
N9eav - I love visiting the capital and we do go a lot but is lovely coming home to peace and quiet.
Have a good day.

Well, I am still having problems with mice. I saw one in the kitchen last night, sat in the poison tray. Hopefully he wont be around much longer, but how many more are there?
My knee is still very painful today. Thankfully the rest of the leg pain has eased. I've put a support and some deep heat on, and hopefully it will ease.
DDs have Japanese lessons this morning, so just getting them ready for that. They don't like getting up early
No idea what to do for tea tonightI'm tempted to lean towards take-out, but that's not very OS. I might get some inspiration during the day though.
(((HUGS))) to all who need them.
Special (((HUGS))) to Jayne and George.
I also read in the arms that Sarahsaver is in hospital, so (((HUGS))) to Sarah and a wish she gets better soon xxxxThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0
