I've just ordered one of these for DS2 (age 14) - the Advent 5301 recon. for £234.95 (hopefully get a few nectar points too). It seems OK for the money, and he'll mainly use it for MSN, surfing and a flight simulator game etc. We've been looking around for a couple of weeks, and decided on this one as we can't really afford to spend more.
Haha, I also ended up ordering the same, they are now sold out, I wonder why!!!

Looks ok however I had read that a laptop needs a good 2gb ram to run vista smoothly.

RAM is easily upgraded and usually reasonably cheap (around £20-40 for 2GB depending on laptop)

Edit: A quick look on Crucial.com shows 2GB for that laptop is £24.66 (4GB is 43.66)

I purchased one on Thursday, I received an email saying my order was being processed and would receive a further email once despatched "Depending on Availbility"

I've heard nothing more, is this just normal practice, I'm curious if the have them in or not.

Anyone know who delivers laptops for Dixons?

10past - can't remember who delivered mine, but pcw/dixons/currys are the same group...just checked my receipt e-mails (mine was from pcw) and the first stated subject to availability, second was beginning to process order, and the third one confirming the purchase and delivery was 4 days later...hope this helps

It's the third email I'm waiting on, maybe they don't work the weekend, I'll give it a few days into next week.

    Thanks Jack ;)
