Could anyone tell me what spec I should be looking for on a laptop, my budget is £500 but I would be willing to stretch to £800 for a decent one. It will be used for surfing the web, possibly watching movies, burning cds/dvds, word, exel and school work. I was thinking of a Sony Vaio VGN-FW11M but then I read something about the blu ray doing one thing but not something else, can't remember as I read it on a website about 2am!! :o

Very, in fact I'm so sad I could cry :p :rotfl: :rotfl:
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

If you buy from Tesco Direct there's a £13 off £90 discount code if you search - I don't think I'm allowed to quote it here.

But I might be allowed to give you link: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=16035735&postcount=50

The £13 code appears to work now

The sales assistant in PC World said that I should make sure it had it as that was the latest thing on computers and that all computers would have it from now on.

    What laptop would you recommend?

  • Is there anything with good specs on the Dell website for about £350 or is that a site to be avoided? I am looking for a laptop for a friend, but don't have a clue about the specs really and it's doing my brain in.

Try Dell Outlet for a bargain - they are 'as new' returns - always perfect in my experience and £55 off with free delivery at the moment.

Research the model and spec on the main site first so you can spot any bargains.
