  • Hi,

    This is my first visit.

Am interested in the HP G60 114EA and saw it online on HP's own site and Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/G60-114EA-15-6-inch-Laptop-Intel-Pentium/dp/B001H9O20W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1226739937&sr=8-1.

At £399 for 3072 RAM and 160gb hard drive seems a good buy especially as HP seem to offer 10% to new customers and 8% cashback from another online site.

    Any thoughts????
  • Hi

I am looking for a laptop which will do the following:

    Surf net/dowload burn music/dvd
    Do word processing/s.sheets
    Chat online
    play cd/dvd's

I don't do gaming, so it is only basics really. From things I've read I'm possibly trying to steer away from Acer and anything with 'Celeron', however I'm not sure why! :p For the past 2 years I've had a Fujitsu Siemens Amil Pro and (perhaps it was just a dodgy one) but it had more problems that any laptop I've ever had and it spent all of it's 12 months warranty period going back at to and even then it had problems!

I was really thinking of any Toshiba as I seem to think these have quite a good name but I am open to suggestions. I don't mind refurbs however I want a full 12 month warranty!

I'm looking at as close to the £250 mark as I can however will consider a bit more expensive if I can reduce it with cashback/vouchers/codes.

I know this is a big ask, but I'm really stuck! I just can't decide what is better and hoping someone can come up with something constructive!

    Thanks everyone.

i've been looking for a laptop around the £350 mark, to be honest, like most people, i've been wanting a lot more for my money than realistically possible.
just now i came across a laptop that was due for release on play.com in a couple of weeks @ £399 with a pretty good spec.
i did a good old google search and found it @ £379 with free delivery from laskys.com

has anyone bought one of these? or anyone had experience buying from them? or seen it cheaper anywhere else?

also, topcashback offer 3% cashback from laskys :)

Thinking of buying this for my son Advent 5401 for £400 from Currys,
    http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1401057122.1226168712@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccfdadefjdfjlgecflgceggdhhmdgml.0&category_oid=-34014&sku=676404&page=Product&fm=1&sm=0&tm=0

Is it any good? Any alternatives would be great.

What about a refurb from Currys? seen a similar spec for about £300.

My son wants the 2mp web cam would be surfing the net, playing some games nothing special(he has a xbox360)doing photos, doing videos from his mobile.

    Thanks

I've had no problems, battery or other with the refurbished Advent I bought from Currys earlier in the year....just like new only a lot cheaper. Also no probs if you want to return it to a big high street company!!

Cheap laptop with a cheap all in one printer, all for under £300

The laptop is very bottom-of-the-range, but this still looks like a good deal if you need both and dont need anything special
  • Hello everyone!

I just wondered if anyone can tell me what the minimum technical specifications are that I should be searching for on a laptop. Its for my daughter - 14 - homework, internet etc etc etc. I keep loggin onto the sites that sell laptops but I haven't got a clue what to put into the search boxings  :o - I would be etremely grateful if you can give me some specs to search on...

    hope that makes sense...

    thanks in advance...

Hello, I just bought a re-conditoned lap-top for £95.00 for ebay, and you have to load the programs like windows etc yourself, its already wifi enabled so I thought it was not too bad a deal, as this was for my 14year old daughter and I think spending ££££ is just daft, if you need more details I will try and get them for you
    :j
  • thanks will69 - that would be useful -- is windows etc easy to load?

    I’m still looking for:

    14” or 15” notebook
    XP or Vista
For internet / music no games though
Refurbished or new will do as long as it has a 12 month warranty
    1 GB Ram
    Around £200 - £300 mark

    Any suggestions please?
