  • Need to buy a reliable laptop - only to use for browsing internet (no gaming, or downloading music and videos), saving photos and the occasional word document.
Any ideas please? Only ever used a PC but as I have wireless internet access I was thinking of getting a laptop now they have come down so much in price.
Please let me know of any makes to avoid too! Thanks.

You might need a separate graphics card for games, rather than onboard.

Opps, posted elsewhere but just noticed this thread :oI'm looking for a laptop for my OH who is also a silver surfer, it's purely for browsing so my question is it possible to get something for around £200.00.

On that budget, your best bet would be a netbook - very small, but designed with internet in mind :)

    Asus EEE PC - £180ish
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Eee-PC-4G-Widescreen/dp/B00109V054/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1226598515&sr=8-4

    Acer Aspire One - £180
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Aspire-One-Netbook-Sapphire/dp/B001BZ920W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1226598647&sr=1-2

These are the lower end models in their respective ranges - but they will suffice for internet browsing :) The Acer has a model priced at £220 on Amazon that has 1GB of RAM, which is a bit better for internet browsing, IMO.

    Make £2020 in 2020 - £263.78/£2020

    2020 totals
    Swagbucks - £100 | Prolific Academic - £44.54 | Qmee - £10 | PopulusLive - £50

    Thank you Miss ;)

May I ask, what's the difference between a laptop and a notebook?

*I've no idea about technology* :o

laptop from comets - any suggestions?

I have just received £500 comets vouchers and would like to buy a laptop. I need it to be wireless as I work away from home but apart from that I have no special requirements. Any suggestions would be really appreciated as I know very little about various specs - thanks
