Natu haved you clicked the abuse button and reported anything you find offensive? I assume if enough of us do it will eventually be taken down.

    & there is the problem!

By clicking the abuse button the whole thread will be deleted &, while not the case in this particular thread, generally a bunch of useful info goes with it!

I won't even ask why these boards are not moderated...go on then I will, why are there no moderators? :)

I reported her first post, but noted in the message that I thought all of her posts were fairly offensive. Hope something gets done about it!

But was it abuse? I don't think so...I agree it was overly aggressive & there was no need to rant. Certainly the OP didn't deserve what they got & I think I said so, "fairly offensive" doesn't = abuse.

OK a couple of points -

1 - the boards are not moderated because if they were and something slipped through the net then MSE and Martin could be considered liable for anything that someone posted - imagine the permanent staff required to monitor EVERY SINGLE POST to ensure that no-one posted anything that might end MSE up on a libel charge? :) Just as an example :)

2 - abuse DO monitor the abuse reports - and they don't always remove the whole thread - they on occassions remove the thread to clean it and then re-instate it. If action isn't immediate then remember just how big the boards are and how many complaints they get a day. And remember that often removing a post isn't as simple as clicking delete... It's more than one person involved and often means a meeting between staff (and Martin) to discuss the appropriate action and how to resolve a situation - now put that into a context of hundreds of abuse reports a day and a limited staff who not only deal with the forums, but the MSE site, articles, research and other MSE jobs...

They WILL get to the reports and yes the more people that report something the more attention they are likely to pay to it I guess :) But don't expect an instant responce - their resources are not limitless after all :)

Personally, I would still say it was abuse. Not on the same level as say, racism, sexism, etc., but it was harsh and uncalled for, and was even aimed at other posters, not just the OP. That's just my opinion on the matter though, and I respect if people see it otherwise.
I just thought something should be done about it. I browse these boards a lot more than I post on them, and it really annoys me when I see unjust/offensive/rude comments in what is otherwise, a friendly online forum.

the problem with the abuse button is that if you dont use outlook express you cant use it! it should go to a form or something instead.

All of your posts are 'attacking' and you make a stern point in making sure everyone on this board knows your Bloody well here! "As far as the I, on the other hand, will carry on trying to get minimum standards for all animals kept as pets." comment what are you trying to do like? Conquer the !!!!!!! world! If you are trying to get the minimum standards up !!!!!! of and do it somewere else instead of coming on here, were 'us' as NICE posters can help her improve them in a non attacking way. Who do you think you are mother teresa?! If you want to stop it go to places were much bigger animals are in tiny cages and cant move around or go to a hen battery farm and splurt your crap there and tell them its cruel to keep hens in there and see if they take any notice because were arent. Tata BIG CROSS TOP RIGHT CORNER DO YOUR SELF A FAVOUR A CLICK IT
As I have said previously I am attacking noone. Other people, including yourself, are the ones who are injecting angry tones and angry words into these threads.
My opinions have been stated. People don't like them. Fair enough. But I would seriously look at your own manner and behaviour before you critisise mine as it is far more attacking than mine would ever be wit your "!!!! offs" and "!!!!!ing this and thats".
Your example of behaviour is shocking.

You started the whole 'abuse' and 'offensive tones' that made everyone else in the post angry! Who do you think you are 'Little Miss Perfect?' does not put a foot wrong, sitting on a pedestal making sure 'minimum standards of animal welfare are kept' as i say attacking people on this board will not make you a life saver! There are much worse things going on in this world with animal cruelty and animals in tiny cages, without you charming into posts telling people you think the cage 2 tiny degus are in is to small, because thats your opinion. Like i say if you don't have anything nice, creative or helpful to say then don't say it again in the future all you have done in this post and many others is upset alot of people. Those degus will have a happy life in there cage, 1 because they don't know any different! Its the same as house cats but the theory for that is they don't know any different then it doesn't bother them! I can understand if they were wild, and been used to roaming free and then caught and put into a small cage.

Also may i just state, my 'example of behaviour' was purely because i had enough of listening to your 'clever' attacking posts to near enough every thread you have, posted in. Your posts are malicious and you do not care who you upset in the process and i am sure you enjoy everyone else commenting back.

Maybe next time you go to answer a thread, don't use it as a clever excuse to spurt rubbish at people about animal welfare. If anyone knows about animal welfare its most on this board! I have rescued many animals in my time and I know those degus are perfectly content and happy in there cosy little cage doing what degus do.

    Thankyou..
