you will always get someone who doesn't like what you are doing (i've learnt that one in retail.. hum) but don't let one poster put you off. Take a different piccy if you don't want to show that one. We would love to see them!

their cage is much bigger than the one they keep them in at our local branch of pets at home, i think its a brilliant home you've got for them!

i saw the pics earlier but didn't have time to reply

    they are very cute :D

i would say that cage is fine for now but not for when they are fully grown so might be worth starting to save up for a bigger cage now and keep an eye out for offers etc

Realizing what I said, I tried to correct it and said, 'No, I mean, I just hope that I get some tonight!' After that, I decided to shut up."

i didn't see the pic. but this is some advice i fiound:

    Cage:

Degus need a large cage. For a couple of degus a minimum of 24 inches by 18 inches by 24 inches tall is about the minimum size. Larger is definitely better and large multilevel cages such as those made for ferrets or chinchillas are ideal. The cage should be made of wire since degus are avid chewers. However, the cage must have a solid (not wire) floor and shelves and ledges should also be made of a solid surface since degus are prone to foot problems.
  • Im putting lino on the floors to stop any foot problems and the cage they are in theyre not in ALL the time. But i didnt have chance to say any of this due to people jumping to conclusions. I also have a 6ft by 4ft rabbit run that is 'degu proof' and a ball for them to roll around in x

My friend has 2 pet degus, I didn't have a clue they even existed before I went round to see them! They are very cute :) They chew like complete maniacs though so I'd be careful about what you put in their cage, apparently my friend has put toys and things in their cage bought from pet shops only to find the next morning they have been chewed to pieces

hold on a second... do you keep degus?
do you know the dimensions of the cage? I assume you dont as they havent been posted...
as i was saying - if you are going to make a serious accusation that somebody is cruel to their pets i think you should get the facts first...
If you read the thread, you will see that the OP has removed her pictures of the degus and of the very small cage that they were in.
She removed the pictures because she knows that the cage is too small for them and doesn't want anyone else to mention it as well as me. After all, if the cage was adequate, why would anyone take the pictures down? There wouldn't be anything to worry about would there?

Why? There's always someone with an extreme view wherever you go, on any subject you might like to choose.... why be censored by it?
    I am curious.
Why is it that someone who is concerned about animal cruelty in your book is classed as having "an extreme view"?

no ruby, if YOU read the thread, she took it down because you upset her. the cage in the picture was of a perfectly adequate size, with lots of cosy places for them to snuggle in and a wheel for exercise. at 4 months old they arent going to grow a huge amount more either

why are you being so vindictive towards the OP? the tone of the post i have quoted is rather rude.

if you had a problem with the picture, a simple "in my opinion, the cage isnt quite big enough" would have sufficed, and been a LOT more polite!!
