  • Excuse me.. but the cage is plenty big enough. If you cant see but their is a small degu in the left corner of the 2nd floor. They are very small creatures and this cage is much bigger then the one they were in on display at pets @ home. If you cant say something nice don't say anything at all.

Ruby, by any chance did you look at the photo and like me think that large brown thing in the top cage was a degus?!He looked really cramped!
I did briefly until I realised it was a wicker hut. They are after all tiny things and surely this enclosure is big enough for them to have plenty of space to exercise?
ps. I was the one who asked what a degus was. They do look lovely and friendly and remind me of the gerbils i used to have when I was a teenager.

  • They are very very small. That wicker hut is huge for them to sleep in :( They have a wheel to exercise in and they have a ball they can run around in outside the cage x

I have a right to express an opinion, even if you don't like it.
Pets at Home may have had them in a tiny cage but they were not planning on keeping them forever, were they? As a temporary measure a smaller cage will do them no harm.
As for the cage you have it is in no way an adequate space for them to run and stretch out and you are an absolute fool if you think it is. Degus need a helluva lot of space to run about and caging these creatures up is beyond cruel.
It is about time the laws on keeping caged animals was changed because it is obvious that it is not something that can be left to common sense.
  • Im guessing u havent seen the size of the degus then?
Fair enough if you want an opinion, thank u very much for it and goodbye.

hold on a second... do you keep degus?
do you know the dimensions of the cage? I assume you dont as they havent been posted...
as i was saying - if you are going to make a serious accusation that somebody is cruel to their pets i think you should get the facts first...

Why? There's always someone with an extreme view wherever you go, on any subject you might like to choose.... why be censored by it?

  • I only wanted to share my new degus and not create a fuss. So i thought it best just to take them off x

:) You've been on these forums for far longer than me, you must know that "fuss" is a way of life for some posters ;) Don't let it get to you!

For the record: I didn't see anything wrong with the cage :)
