Ive got some Degus!

Oh dear, I am so sorry that the OP is a ickle bit upset that I said she was cruel for putting two degus in such a small cage. Perhaps she shouldn't have bought them on a whim in the first place and gave it some proper thought and research first because then she wouldn't have rushed onto a money saving website like a giddy 6 year old :j and spouting "I've got some Degus" and showing them off in the wire, small cage which is totally unsuitable for them in the first place!no ruby, if YOU read the thread, she took it down because you upset her. the cage in the picture was of a perfectly adequate size, with lots of cosy places for them to snuggle in and a wheel for exercise. at 4 months old they arent going to grow a huge amount more either
why are you being so vindictive towards the OP? the tone of the post i have quoted is rather rude.
if you had a problem with the picture, a simple "in my opinion, the cage isnt quite big enough" would have sufficed, and been a LOT more polite!!
I don't have the patience to say to all these people "do you think the cage is a bit small?" because, quite frankly, I am fed up of people losing all common sense when it comes to the keeping of caged animals and I am fed up of the amount of dead caged animals I find that were all totally preventable had the 'animal lovers' thought a bit longer and harder in the first place.
If she truly believes the cage is ok for the Degus, she would not have taken the pictures down. Actions speak louder than words.0 -
oh please, in your opinion the cage is too small, but comparing the OP to someone who would let their pets die is just plain ridiculous! there is nobody here that would do that and there is no need to talk down to all of us over it. you arent the only person in the world that loves animals you know.
i happen to be a giddy 6 year old too, as i posted a picture of my kitten when i first got him, how very terrible of me! and thank you for your insult.
there is a X in the top right hand corner, may i suggest instead of talking down to everyone you click on that insteadMummy to

I am curious.
Why is it that someone who is concerned about animal cruelty in your book is classed as having "an extreme view"?
Having a concern about animal cruelty is one thing, accusing someone of being cruel (as you did) is something else!
Unless you could see more from the pic than I could &/or know the dimensions of the cage then to accuse the OP of cruelty is, in my view, extreme.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
The thing that amuses me is it is actually you that is talking down to me.oh please, in your opinion the cage is too small, but comparing the OP to someone who would let their pets die is just plain ridiculous! there is nobody here that would do that and there is no need to talk down to all of us over it. you arent the only person in the world that loves animals you know.

I have given an opinion on the matter of a cage looking at the pictures that were posted. Not 1 picture, a few. A cage that is totally unsuitable as it is 1, too small and 2, has wire floors and 3, is not attached to anyone outside area.
Now you have taken a dislike to my post so you feel angry towards me and you are now talking down to me and trying to intimidate, which is futile (and a bit childish).
In response to your angry post, I told you why I was so passionate and to that you would like to talk down to me again and add a touch of sarcasm in it too.
Its all very well and good, you spouting off at me as you are but it doesn't change the fact that those two Degus are being kept in a cage when they should be running free but giving the OP really really wants a Degus I would have thought that getting the cage size right was of maximum importance.
I must say defending animals being kept in unsuitable conditions isn't helping your arguement very much.
Haven't you found the patronising tones that fly around this board truly irritating?0 -
I didn't know what they were!!
So I googled.....
They are mice

Lets push this further...
You keep mentioning "caged animals"... so can I assume you also have a problem with the keeping of Mice, Hamsters, Gerbils, Rats, Guinea pigs even Rabbits? Is it ok if they are kept in a cage that meets your specifications?
Or are you against keeping any animal in a cage? From your rants I'd be tempted to go for the latter... just my opinion of course
Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
i saw the cage and just because you may think it looks small in the picture doesnt mean it is in reall life , pictures can be decieving
i think its ok especially as now we have heard everything else to OP has to say,she may get a bigger cage when they are older not that she necessarly needs to
I also have 2 degus - they are not mice btw if anything they are realated to guinea pigs but look like gerbils/chinchillas0 -
Oh my god some people are just always nebbing in! A Degus is a tiny creature. Do you own one or ever owned one? Sick of people on here commenting on other peoples animals lifestyle etc etc. There are a hell of a lot of caged animals in this word, there are monkeys and gorrillas in tiny cages and you are whinging about 2 degus in a cage that is adiquit for there size? Oh please go away and find someone elses thread to spam will you. :jTheres 2 types of horse owner, a person who owns a horse and a horsey person
