  • I have spent the last couple of days with friends and their adorable but extremely energetic 9mth old daughter - if I don't sleep tonight I think I never will!

Before I went on Wed I had to sign on, and I didn't even cry - woo hoo! Told them about my new job and they said to keep a quick eye out for any temp work, but that they knew there wasn't really much available so just flick through the paper! My next signing on will be my last.

My LHA has finally gone into the bank:j:T That has certainly taken its time, but now I can relax a bit.

All in all, I am feeling fairly good and fairly positive.

    :TWell, another fairly good day!

Firstly, something EXTREMELY exciting and noteworthy:

    I slept last night!!!!:j:j:T:T:beer::beer:

I went up around midnight, tossed and turned a bit, but ended up getting about 5hrs sleep in one go! That is a current record, and I do feel better for it.

Today I went shopping, always good:D. Now I am just biding my time for another half hur or so before its time to cook dinner - curry again. I do cook other things sometimes, honestly, but as its been my favourite food since I was weaned, its certainly a regular on my menu.

I think things are looking up. Now I am just looking forward to starting work, getting a routine, and earning my own keep!
  • I KNOW things are looking up and I'm happy for you. You seem to have come quite a long way since your first post, so good for you!

Well I haven't updated for a few days so I will be brief.

After umming and ahhing I have decided I will still go down to see my friends at the weekend, well I go tomorrow actually and back late Monday. I had looking into whether I could come back earlier, as my train is quite late Monday, but the reason I booked a late train was the price, and now with just days to go of course it is even more expensive so that is out of the question. However a friend who is actually away the weekend text me last night and asked if I wanted to do lunch Mon, so that will make it not so long.

I may have made tentative plans to see my family Friday evening, watch this space.

The rest of the weekend will be spent with various friends, one of whom (the one I am staying with) I have been asked to 'have a word with' about her drinking - she won't listen to a 3rd friend....we shall see.

    Counselling today. Feeling positive.

Less thess than 3 weeks til I start work, I need that sooooo much! This lady of leisure malarky has got boring/frustrating far sooner than I expected it to and I need to be DOING something!

Well - as you say Faith - not long now before you start work.

I shall be interested to see how life is for you once you start work. From what I know of the two of you - I do think it will work well. You are both nice people and it looks to me as if you "match up" pretty well as personalities too - so I will be watching with interest.

As I said to your "employer-to-be" - I think "I'll put my wooden spoon away now and just use it for cooking":D. I think this particular "cake" is about to "bake nicely in the oven":D:rotfl::rotfl:

Cecilia, I have been reading this with interest. You might enjoy reading "Beginning the World" by Karen Armstrong. It is the true story of a young woman's difficulty in adjusting to the world after years spent as a nun and how hard and bewildering she found it after being enclosed in her convent.

I am sure your library would get it for you.

Hope all goes well with your visit, thinking of you and sending hugs. xx
  • Well I'm at my friends now, so good to see her. Can't say its like we have never been part - we have and too much has happened for us to ever say its as it was - but it is lovely to catch up.

Had a text from my dad and they do want to see me tomorrow.....at McDonalds:eek::eek::eek: I am horrified! But I didn't argue or object, just agreed, and won't bother unpacking he nice top I brought in case they suggested an Indian or Chinese:rolleyes:

Journey itself was BLISS compared to other train journeys recently - I had a reserved seat in the 'Quiet coach' - no phones or ipods, no shouting. Sadly it doesn't ban loud rustling of newspapers or crunching of crisps, but I coped:D:D:D

That would be my own personal reaction at McDonalds as well - yikes! - and there was me suggesting maybe coffee and cakes in a "posh" hotel.... Oh well - if you've agreed then I guess its "grit teeth and put up with it" I suppose - though the thought does strike me that one of the reasons we would both hate McDonalds is because I doubt they cater very well at all for vegetarians (as we both are). To propose meeting somewhere like McDonalds to someone they know is both vegetarian and likes quiet environments doesnt show much thought I have to say. From personal experience (to a much lesser extent probably) - it can take parents a long time to adapt from the daughter they WANTED to have - to accept the one they ACTUALLY have (ie with rather different ideas, tastes, lifestyle, etc to themselves). I have had quite a bit of experience of various people (inc. parents) trying to make me live a different way/do different things to what actually suits ME - and it IS frustrating...sitting there thinking "Havent they stopped trying YET?" sometimes. Stick to your guns and live the life YOU decide you will lead.

Do you feel able to explain the reasons to them why McDonalds isnt a suitable venue to meet you and make other suggestions to them? If you really feel "trapped" into going there - then it would be best to take a "packed lunch" with you to eat just before or after the meal - so you actually GET a meal to eat and dont end up being hungry. Maybe you could find a suitable park nearby afterwards and go and eat your packed lunch there?

Anyways - I hope you manage/have managed to make it a suitably "productive" weekend.

    Take care

    xxx
