  • I'll join the club too although I'm not too good in large groups.

I feel the same too. I dont have any children but work unsociable shifts and mostly work with men xx

I notice you are doing slimming world. Have you been able to make any friends there? I went to Rosemary Conley a while ago and it was just the same - everyone in groups and it was hard to break into them.

Me tooo!!! LOts of us in the same boat. I moved here from NZ so have no family or friendship ties. It is really hard. My husband is my best friend and his Mum would be number two. Other than that I could count on one hand the people I know by name in my village - been here 5 years!

Obviously we are not alone it is just a matter of finding each other. You just have to take a chance and start chatting. If not then move on. Pick someone who is standing alone at the school gates, bus stop whatever cause chances are they are feeling desperate too.

  • BargainHunter - 'Netmums' isn't just for mothers with young children, I think it's for anyone who uses the website. Although, we do seem to meet in child friendly places, eg. parks or softplay. Don't let that put you off!

I started a thread the other day looking for new friends in Nottingham!

Maybe we should ALL meet up as MSE's!!!

Surely, between us all, we should be able to meet some friends who live close by us!

Everyone is scared of someone or something, everyone loves someone or something, and everyone has lost someone or something! BE NICE!
  • I agree far2812.. I have just posted on the netmums meet a mum board, so will see if that brings any luck

I feel the same, I dont really have many friends. I am very close to my sister but over the years I have lost touch with friends I had from school and college.
My kids are both teenagers, I'm 34 so I'm not really meeting other mums anymore, and I work doing mystery shopping so dont meet people at work either! (although I did go to a MS'ing meet and met a few other MS'ers which was fantastic, and we still keep in touch).
I would like more friends though.

  • I'm the same too, not had any close friends since I was at school and am now only in touch with one of them. My boyfriend and mum are my only friends now.
Its been 14+ years since i had a true best friend or even close friends :(
If anyone lives in Shropshire...? lol
    But seriously...

I'm in Shropshire too...... it must be a lonely county! :rotfl:
