    Hi all,

I live in the Highlands & have found it hard to make friends here although I have made a couple of really good ones.
I suppose I do live in an isolated place & we work from home so it is hard. OH & I are really close & I think we rely on each other, but it would be nice to widen my tiny circle.
I'm in my late forties & have no kids - I thought it was my age, but see from here that its also a thing with younger posters too.
I don't even drive so I am really stuck, but if anyone who is interested in outdoor stuff, crofting, writing, living a simple life etc & wants an email pal get in touch.

Have you had a look to see if there are any evening classes that might be of interest to you? You might meet someone throught there!

Just seen this thread and felt I should post. I'm in the same boat really. I was with my ex for 10 years and have a 1 year old and 4 year old and work full time. Don't really have much time and going out means getting a babysitter! All my friends are in couples/married so (well all 2 of them!) so I feel like I'm intruding or awkward with the two of them and if I go out with the female partners it seems like their partners think I will be out on the pull!! Not really that likely - I'm 41 and not sure I can be bothered at the minute!!
Seem to be loads of clubs and things for single parents who don't work but if you out there helping yourself no one seems to care!
I live in West Sussex if there's anyone on here wants to meet up!

    Hi.
Just a suggestion, how about a bit of local voluntary work around your local area?
Only say, a couple of hours a week to start with e.g local village hall, playgroups or charity shop etc.
Not only would they really appreciate your help but you get alot of contact with alot of like-minded people as well.

I would Square-bear but with a full time job, which I need to pay my mortgage, I don't have anytime free which would fit in with when charities would want me. I have my boys to myself on a Saturday - our special day together and ex has them on a Sunday for a few hours only - he doesn't even do an overnight!

How would you fit it in if you did manage to make a couple of good friends?

Friends can go to each others houses too, not just go out. I can have the odd night out but there aren't many charities that need people at night?

Right - I have bitten the bullet and posted an ad on the meet a mum board at netmums. Im not that old (I had my two teenagers young) and most of the women on there are similar age to me but have younger kids, so we will see! Ill keep you posted as to how I get on. Fingers crossed!

Its heart warming to hear that I am not alone and that there are lots more of you in the same situation. Keep posting, and hopefully we can reassure each other and maybe even offer each other some tips!

How did you get on bargainhunter? Any tips for the rest of us :D
