Just to echo what others have said about Ann Harvey sales: I had stayed away from them for ages owing to lack of funds  but the other week with time to kill in Birmingham I wandered in to House of Fraser and ended up coming out with a winter coat and a nightie from Ann Harvey for less than 50quid! I was so chuffed.

An earlier poster mentioned Maria Rinaldi (or is it Anna?) well, whichever, a few months ago I saw a beautiful coat by this designer for 53 pounds reduced from 250! sadly I didn't have the funds at the time but it just goes to show that it worth keeping a look out.
Great thread, as I have said before :T

  • I buy shoes from Ecco, they have a huge variety of shoes and boots, but you will find the best ones in their own shops, or online. Clarks and other shops tend to stock the traditional, confy but ugly, type of shoes.
    They are pricey though!

Had a look on ecco last night and you're right, they do do nicer stuff online. Unfortunatly the ones I like are £70  Might have to do some more shopping around.
  • What do you think of those all in one body shaper things ladies? I'm thinking of getting a Gok one (liked the colour) but I don't know anything about them. Last all in one thing I had was in the 80s and I recall the popper things always coming undone and it rolling up around my waist (not a good look really)!

nunnygirl - i'm 26 and size 24 so in a similar boat. Strange as it sounds... try Bon Marche. It looks like an old ladies shop from outside but some nice bits inside, i went with same sized friend on sat and got some nice bits, including stuff for semi-goth friend. Their tshirts tend to be too short sleeved though!

Me, i'm living in Asda long sleeve tshirts at the moment, £4 each, no worries of bingo wings, and keep me warm in my freezing house :rotfl:

I went into Bon Marche today to try and get a nice top for a funeral I am going to on Wednesday and I wasn't impressed with the choice our local store has. Looks like I'm going to be going in a black Asda shirt.

I also wanted to ask about shoes. Why do some shops sell a size 9 as a 42 and others sell them as a 43. I had a pair of size 9's on in New Look today and they didn't fit. Then I realised they were only a 42:rolleyes:

I have a couple of the Gok Wan magic pant things, the slicker Knicker, which is fab, doesnt roll down and really pulls it all in with no unsightly rolls as it comes really high (under bust) and is well shaped round the upper thigh area...I also have the one with the longer leg bits great for wearing under a dress as some magic pants with legs in lead to chaffing! and these are such lovely substantial material :)
I also bought the Banger Booster bra, but wouldn't reccommend as was expensive and the wires poked out within a couple of weeks, it did have really nice bells that jangled when I walked and by boyf loved it!!!

    HTH :)

Thanks to someone on here who mentioned Artigiano Spirito. Have just received my first order and the items are great. Just bought from the clearance section but still quite pricy but I now spoilt for other shops. :j

Bon Marche seems to go in fits and starts, I've had some lovely, lovely things including a suit somebody thought was from Coast ;) but other visits just give you rack after rack of naff polyester granny 'tops' & stretch waisted pleated skirts

I am 5' 6" but the trousers tend to be too short, they consider 29" inside leg as long

    I buy from
    www.holyclothing.com
The clothes are fantastic, flattering, very comfortable, VERY LONG!! and everyone comments upon how lovely they are. I am a 24 - 26 and am so happy I found this website. Buy off the original site, they have sellers on Ebay, but they are a little more expensive.

I love the look of this but do you pay customs?

The Esbelt slimming vest is very, very, good :) It's made from some sort of rubber but it wasn't overly uncomfy. Might not say that in the summer though. Mine just skims my belly button but it's incredibly comfortable aside from a little rubbing of the strap by the end of the day. I was able to eat and drink normally and it doesn't roll down. If you are planning to wear one every day I'd get 2 so one can be washed (hand-wash) on a daily basis.

Very true, I'm only a 30" 'normal' leg but can't find trousers to fit in there.

On the other hand I bought some brushed cotton PJs there the other day, sz 24-26 and they're massive (and I like baggy PJs!).

They do a few good bras that aren't granny-like too, I get the same 2 pack for £12 time after time as they're very comfy for everyday wear and have wide straps. Not 'sexy' but not too bad either.
