Just found this thread, thanks for all the links everyone.

Just one thing would make me very very happy - larger sizes in petite ranges. They seem to forget sometimes that larger ladies are sometimes only 5ft - 5ft 3ins tall. Most of the tops I buy fit my hips but are too wide around the top and show off most of my bra straps!!! Still I live in hope.
  • At the risk of sounding like a shareholder, may I mention that Elvi does petite ranges? Sale website http://www.elvi.co.uk/index.php?c=4000&t=itemlist-top-all

Also the other way round - i'm size 24 and 5'11. Try finding tousers in a 24 waist and a 35'' inside leg. Or tops that are long enough to cover the bits that need covering.

Try Fashionworld hun they do plus size trousers in long length up to 36" inside leg. I know cos I'm plus size and 6'2 so find shopping a pain in the Aris
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

  • Tesco do a plus size clothing range called True in their larger stores but I was in my local on thursday and there was a leopard print knee length dress in the clearance from their normal range, size 22 (i'm usually 24/26 in that range), looked lovely on but no tag, customer service checked it and was £5! Bargain of the week. I'm guessing the original price would've been £25/30 but you'd pay up to £75 for this in somewhere like evans.

i feel for you, whilst i'm not petite at 5ft 6.5in i'm not as well endowed up top as us 'big girls' are supposedly to be and have the same problem.... though i have gotten quite good with a hidden stitch here and a strategic stitch there...

GRRRR :mad:ordered some jeans online from Asda, a size 24, they sent an 8 !!, Rang them up, the incredibly helpful lady on the phone thought it was amusing that the size was sooo wrong! (cheers luv) her answer was to suggest I go to my local Asda & see if they have them in stock, what if they don't I asked, she then suggested I get another pair of jeans in a size 24?? Ok thanks for the help, as suspected went to Asda yesterday, they didn't have the ones I wanted in my size, (Thats why i ordered them online!! doh) so had to get a refund. Sorry rant over.
Can I recomend swirl clothing on ebay, I got this dress in purple as my back up wedding dress, it is really nice on and incredibly flattering. I did wear it in the evening & felt lovely in it, bit more comfortable than my proper big frock.

Lovely dress Violetta, are they good at sizing? Would a 22 fit a 22 is what I mean. I am tempted to get one as the style is 'just my thing'
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

I think the sizing would be fine, the bit around the neckline ie accross the bust is elasticated & the gather under the bust is a cord/ribbon which you can pull in let out , so it's very adjustable. I hadn't worn a dress for years as I really didn't think it would suit me, but this was really nice, just wondering when I can wear it next, maybe Xmas dinner. Warning it is really heavy though.
    Booo!!!
