Not seen anyone mention the fantastic French and Teague range 1647. Yes the clothes are dearer, but fantastic, quality and cut (sizes 16 to 47!) I have pieces I have has for years that look brand new. The clothes are manufactured in Ghana at a reputable factory that helps the people, your money is not going to some sweatshop.

Yes they were mentioned, see page 4, posts 71 and 74.
Have you bought anything there recently?

I think the main thing which stops me buying more online is the hassle of having to send stuff back if it doesn't fit. I don't mind taking a punt on things like t-shirts but for trousers expecially I just have to try them on as each shop/brand seems to be sized differently.

It is a bit of hassle having to send back, but some companies make it as easy as possible.

The JD Williams sites (23 of them, Simply Be, Jacamo, Marisota etc etc etc) have a great return policy. You can either send back via post office, free of charge, or the courier in some cases will pick them up. You can return shoes as well, the only website I know of that allow that.
They have a 28-day return deadline.

Others make you pay for the privilege of returning the items, or give you less time.
Shopping online to me means ordering stuff to try on, two sizes for example, or something I'm not sure about. I love it!

Just spent a fortune with Lands End thanks to a fellow curvy lady who has recommended them here.... Doubt I will keep everything though.

Don't know if its been mentioned but I get some great summer dresses from a company in Amercia, off ebay

    Holyclothing

Some of the items are gothic inspired, some I would be dubious of (Harem Pants), but over the last couple of years had 12 dresses from them.

I always go for the fixed price, offer half of what it says, they come back with a counter offer, usually in the middle.

Even with shipping there really reasonable.

They go upto 32, everything they sell their are really detailed sizing, bust, waist, hips, length, I couldn't recommend them enough.

A massive thanks for Next tip, will read the posts 2mor xx

They cought my eye a few days ago when I checked Ebay USA out.
I used to wear goth clothing xx years ago, at uni. As I could not find the size my mother used to make them for me, although loose styles, not corsets etc.
I will probably part with a bit more cash and try them!:D

Does anyone know what the USA size for UK 28 is. I found XL3, is that correct?

Re. Evans going down hill they recently had a range of clothes by Beth Dito including a royal blue catsuit, sorry ladies but I do not ever want to see anyone my size in that!
    .

    The fat police is here!
The point of this tread is to share tips and give people more choice on where to buy clothes, and implicitly to assert our right to equal treatment.
I would not wear one, but it should be my decision, not someone else's telling me what to do. And it saddens me that it's another fat person telling us we should be ashamed of our body.

Don't get me started on discrimination etc etc, that would be a different tread altogether.

Please please get proof of posting and photocopy all paperwork with returns and learn by my mistake. I returned a pair of boots and shoes to Hotter and fortunately did get proof of posting. Hotter said they hadn't received them back and even with proof of posting it took them 3 months to return my money.

Totally agree that their should be more choice (don't start me on shoes or we'll be here all night)....M

actually i WILL start on shoes...

what is it with retailers of mainstream shoes for women? i mean if i a woman needs a size 8 like i do, can they not possibly consider that her feet may be a bit wider as well as longer?

i can wear a mans shoe in 8 no problems but 90% of womens shoes size 8 are way too tight. yes evans does a more reasonable fit but evans shoes are expensive and generally most aren't my style anyway

i've pretty much given up buying womens shoes and buy plain black mens shoes or trainers but i'd love to have a lovely summery sandal once in awhile or some cute little court shoes without paying the earth for them!
  • Hi guys for the larger man Jacamo seems preety good, I ordered stuff for my dad from here and sem to be good with sizes and lengths, u'll find this @ simply be website.
I like simply be but agree with some of the other posts that the sising can be hit/miss. As a general observation I find plus size clothing always gets the cut wrong, trying to find trousers and tops which actuallt give the room in the arms and legs, the waist size goes up but theres no change in the leg room (big legs my problem! oh and arms!) the manufacturers make the waists/bodies larger but dont proportion the arms/legs to match, so I end up having to buy a size or 2 bigger to get them to fit legs and arms.

Very disappointed with New Look as my 2 local stores now have a very minimal selection.

There was only 1 thing for this - drastic action, diet time! I dont want to be skinny,(i'm between an 18 top-24 bottom! depending on outlet) but if I manage 2 lose some weight maybe be able to go shopping again stress free!!! wish me luck!!

I too am a size 22/24 but have now decided to loose a stone or too. If I could get into size 18 I would be happy. Wish me luck too !
