  • Yesterday I bought a massive patchwork bedspread with pillow cases for £8, which is alot for me to pay at a boot sale..lol, but really liked it and it is definately worth it.

Today I hav bought a cornishware tea pot with missing lid for £2, which will go perfectly with the spare lid I bought from an antiques fair a few weeks ago..lol, result!

Got a very heavy table lamp for £3,
70's tea/coffee/sugar tins, boxed, never used for 50p. (Goanmad would like these..lol)
    May £10 a day challenge
    £19.61/£310
    Ebay challenge...£12.61/£200

I bet I would! Well done on the patchwork bedspread, I've been meaning to attempt one for ages and just can't bear the thought of all that stitching so I reckon £8 is pretty good but you're right it seems so expensive when you're in a field!

Goanmad, I've just seen those cowboy boots on your blog and am so jealous one of your lucky, lucky friends has bagged them! Please tell me they were a really, really small size and therefore totally unsuitable for me?!

I'm utterly delighted with my finds this morning. Like Goanmad, I have a blog too and if you'd like to take a peek at my finds from today and yesterday, click the link on my profile.
Anyway, here are my finds from today's car boot:
Oversized 100% wool grey jumper dress £2
Cream and navy striped fine knit jumper with button detail £2
BNWT white cotton shirt with ruffle front £2
And my find of the year (for me, as I've been looking for one for aaaages) - a retro rotary dial cradle telephone in black £1. Hooray! :)

I lurve those old phones - an absolute pest to dial but so much more stylish than those hideous cordless things. What a bargain at £1, our local antique centre charges £95!!!

Love the two blogs Goanmad and GrammarGirl! It's great the way retro is so popular now. When I was (much!) younger it was desperately uncool to buy anything second hand. And carboots were but a distant dream!

Local carboot was packed today with loads of stalls. Just nothing of interest for me apart from some books and a cheese grater/tupperware thingy. Total payout 50p

So true, lulu! I remember my Mum trying to get me into a charity shop for a fancy dress costume when I was 13... I was so mortified, I refused and stood outside another shop a few doors down! How things change! Although I do remember selling at quite a few car boots with my Mum, she always sent the hagglers my way as I drove a hard bargain! :)

I just opened my handbag to get my purse out and spotted something sparkly at the bottom. Pulled it out and remembered - I bought a necklace on the first stall of the car boot, shoved it in my bag and totally forgot about it!

It's silver with a huge coin pendant... the guy at the stall said it was a Queen's Jubilee coin, it's dated 1977 and was £1.40. I know nothing about coins but adore this necklace - it's so chunky! It'll be great for toughening up a pretty dress. Have hastily added a picture to my earlier blog post. :)

Got my times mixed up, and the event was in the afternoon so I decided to try out Otley's afternoon boot sale. They were queueing to get in, which I thought was a good sign, but when I got in there looked to be about 6 stalls, which at 80p entrance I thought was rubbish. The first few stalls were just selling expensve tat, but I went round a corner and found another big area, which is where the bargains were. I got:

A fantasy three book set and another hardback - 1.50 total.
A nice lined wooden box, which I'll use for a jewellery box, I've been looking for one for ages £1, and a book 20p.
    12 books for £4
    4 gorgeous pendants, 3.50
A brooch and pair of earrings, £2
    2 brooches (different stall) £1
a book 50p and pair of accessorize earrings, 50p
A big modern frosted blue decanter, 30p, I'll fill with sweets for my sister Christmas present.

Saw loads of nice clothes, but all far too small for me.

So I think I'll be checking that one out again! Spent a little bit more than I planned, but I don't regret any of the things I bought.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • I love that word 'chazza'! Got a huge diamante spider brooch for £4 from our local hospice charity shop. Thought it would look good on my black jumper at Hallowe'en. I love animal inspired brooches and I'm always on the lookout for them.

Talking of retro, I went to the Goodwood Revival a few weeks ago and was impressed at the number of spectators who got dressed up for the occasion. There were amazing outfits from the 40's, 50's and 60's. I spent more time snapping than spectating! I put a few on my blog on my website (link on my profile). I reckon Goanmad could have supplied outfits for everybody that attended:D

Goanmad, I checked out your brilliant blog. I've just finished reading Christa Weil's entertaining and informative book 'It's Vintage Darling'. There is a contribution by Vintage Vixen, so spooky that I find out it's you! I loved that book, I read it from cover to cover and the next day went out and found a gorgeous top by Olsen, a German designer she mentioned.

Didn't get to any boot sales today as I spent the day revamping a little darkwood chest of drawers. Now painted in Dimity by Farrow and Ball (pale cream).

Will hit the chazza shops tomorrow - looking for rose printed fabric to line some baskets.
  • Didn't really have much luck today, really busy bootsale but nothing caught my attention, so all I got was

    3 books for £1
    200ml bio oil for £6
and frozen toes and a sore throat for free (it was so cold!)
