  • There were a couple of boxes outside a normally expensive charity shop today - marked "dressing up - £1 an item". So of course I had a root around, got a gorgeous burgundy silk velvet scarf and a black velvet bolero, with a rose print on it...!

About those Ugg boots mentioned by a poster - real ones don't have any tags, so don't put them on Ebay unless you want grief....

I meant the (congratulations on your purchase...)tag/card. Sorry was very excited in writing that it doesnt make sense, but i am 100% positive they are real :D

Hello gang! Far too wet and miserable for a boot sale yesterday .

Had a quick charity shop visit earlier and today's finds were:
A gorgeous "Ghost" dress for £3.50 and a 1960's vintage red felt hat for £1.50. I found my mum a pure silk orange Whistles batwing top for £2.50 and a lime green leather skinny belt for 95p.

It's the quarterly scout jumble sale tomorrow so wish me luck!

Hmm, I have to go to Ilkley for 10.30 tomorrow for literature festival event. I think it'd be rude not to call at the car boot on the way first!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Maysie I hope you feel better, my DS did the same to me! Lurgy mostly gone yesterday so ventured out, got a couple brand new coffee gift set 50p, couple of new photo frames 60p Phase Eight dress with a fab print £2, 60's to 80's bag of craft stuff (lots of vintage cards/scrapbooking stuff), 50's/60's sewing box complete with 2 new packs of nylon stocking darning thread and bits to replace the hooks on your bra (amazing - like stepping into a time warp) a 60's(?) daisy mirror still boxed (but the glass is badly flawed - love the daisy though) and a 70's hand held sewing device (complete boxed with instructions!) the lot for the grand total of £4. Hope everyone has a good weekend ;)
    August: £149/£150

    Sept: £200

The hangover from hell this morning meant no bootie bargains for me. It's such a gorgeous day I could kick myself for overdoing the Diwali celebrations last night. Hopefully our more dedicated bargain hunters have been out and about this morning and will make us envious with their purchases later.

However I have got my weekend bargain fix as we did pay a visit to the legendary Boy Scout jumble sale yesterday :j:j!

    Here's my finds:
    5 early 1960's-era evening dresses
1950's turquoise lace evening dress (needs loads of TLC)
1940's black crepe and velvet dress (made in Toronto)
    1940's navy silk evening dress
Vintage silk emerald green and rhinestone trim Carnegie top
Vintage handmade gold metallic evening jacket
Navy pinstriped man's suit - no wear on it whatsover!
    Hand knitted grey waistcoat
    2 silk scarves
    Tooled leather cowboy boots
    Plaited leather belt
    1970's Madras check sunhat
1950's linen tablecloth, tray cloth and napkins embroidered with hollyhocks and crinoline ladies
Double bed size crochet bed throw - very shabby chic
    Zara jacket
    Jigsaw trousers
    Per Una raggedy scarf
    Fringed black cobweb shawl
    2 vintage fur collars
    1960's blue lurex skirt suit
    Vintage black lace coat
    Vintage Laura Ashley boned sundress
Spanish Flamenco dancer's dress (polka dots and ruffles)
    1950's Burton dinner jacket
    Four pinnies
    1960's man's sheepskin jacket
    12 padded satin coathangers
    In-car fire extinguisher
    Door bell
    Aldo black suede wedges
    Blauplunkt car radio

    Total spend: £12 :T
I'm keeping the 1940's black dress, the turquoise lace wreck of a dress and the crochet throw. I'd love to keep all of the evening dresses and the Carnegie top but sadly they are far too big. BF's snaffled the sheepskin coat and the fire extinguisher. I've given the Aldo wedges to a friend and another pal's having the cowboy boots.

If you take a peek at my blog (click on my User name and select Goanmad's home page) I've just uploaded some photographs of my finds plus a few hints and tips.
