My best buy recently was a bundle of knitting needles - about 15 pairs, assorted sizes, and all in good condition (no bendy ones...) for 99p. Most local CSs are selling them now at 99p - £2 for a pair!
Plus two of the Millenium Trilogy (Stieg Larsson) for 50p each - looked unopened.
And at a local charity book fair, a mixed bag of 6 books for £2, including a hardback "Buildings of Lincolnshire" by Pevsner (original 1964 version) which is currently on Amazon for at least £15.80, and this is in better condition!0 -
Hi everybody. I have been reading this thread with interest and cannot believe the bargains that you have all got! I've made a pact with myself that i'm going to buy as little as possible new this year. This a financial and green decision. I am going through each room listing what is needed and am hoping to pick up some bargains! My best 2 bargains recently have been a mirror from ebay that cost 99p. My dad then saw the identical one for £300! Then a massive fortnum and mason wicker hamper with leather (?) straps..sort of old suitcase style for £4.25. Excellent condition and perfect for my kids toys!
GOANMAD your finds are amazing! How do you do it?! And where do you live!!!! I often read your blog and love it! xIf music be the food of love then play on"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow". ღ ~Maya AngelouDoing it for my kids. Hi nattyt! You sound like you know what you're doing already! I never bother with a list, otherwise you can be a little too focussed and miss out on the fabulous and truly random.
I live in the West Midlands and every weekend (unless there's a jumble sale) we'll choose a local town and plunder the charity shops.0 -
My best bargain was 2 large suitcases for £3 from the local animal charity shop. Ideal for my Mum who is moving house soon.0

Yeah that might be true about lists but its an addiction of mine list writing lol! And random is good! I live in Warwickshire so same sort of neck of the woods. xxIf music be the food of love then play on"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow". ღ ~Maya AngelouDoing it for my kids. Haven't found anything very good in my local charity shops lately until yeterday.
Found a nice little figurine which looked like a Royal Doulton 'Bunnykins' but didn't have a backstamp on it, only an unglazed space on the base where it should be. It was only £3.00 and very pretty so I bought it.
Looked it up on ebay & there are 4 on there ranging from £24.00 - £35.00. Seems it dates from 1972 & is supposed to be quite rare so if I get round to selling it I should be able to get more than I paid as although no backstamp it it has no chips or damage.0 -
I picked up a copy of Angus Thongs by Louise Rennison for my daughter today. It's only when she has been looking at it at home that I've realised it's an omnibus and has the second book in the series included. Bargain for 99p. I told her I had seen it in the charity shop after seeing that Waterstones (not sure if it's instore as well as online) were selling the first book for £1.00. Feels a better bargain now that we've got 2 for 1. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

My best buys from our local charity shop-they had a clearance and I managed to pick up:
red real leather coat-£1.00-there was a small hole in the pocket-found 20 pence coin in there
real suede M&S jacket-looked unworn-found original price tag AND a receipt-was £110.00-can't imagine paying this price-got it for £1.00
quicksilver faux fur short jacket-£1.00
Monsoon top-£1.00
All are perfect fit and I keep them all!
I LOVE charity shops!0 -

You're daughter will love it! I started reading the series when it very first came out and even though I'm much too old to be reading them now I still find myself buying them as they are released. Look her up on her website, she is a hilarious lady and apparently the books are based on her true experiences at school. She even gives the details of what happened to the characters from her books in real life - who ended up with who etc! If you ever want a giggle I recommend you borrow this back from your daughter0
