Anyone who steals from a charity shop really is the lowest of the low. I also hate people trying to haggle for a discount. I actually overhead a woman demand a pair of £4.99 trousers were reduced as she would have to take them up before she wore them.

    Been shopping (again) today:

Vintage purple wool floor length cape £5.99
1970's suede "Harmony" shoulder bag £2.49
    Vintage puddybow blouse £1.99
    TopShop cape shouldered dress £3
1960's lurex boat neck sweater £2
    Sheepskin mittens 50p
Indian tooled leather waist belt 50p
    Lots of books (5 for a £1)

There are three great charity shops local to my workplace and I've recently got a couple of real bargains there. 1) Friends edition of Scene It, DVD board game. My daughter is avid fan of Friends however given the other presents she was getting for Christmas I wasn't planning on spending £23.00 on this. Was chuffed to find it in the charity shop for £5.00. All intact, the corners of the box were a little scuffed but she never noticed. 2) Also got a copy of the Unofficial Guide to WDW 2010 for £1.99. It's usually £15.99 and as we are going in October this year we would have bought a copy. Friends bought us a copy of the Brits Guide for this year for Christmas too.

Don't know if this ever happens to anyone else but it seems that I can go around charity shops looking for something specific, don't find it, buy it elsewhere and then a couple of weeks/months later find one in there. Twice it has happened to me recently. My daughter (12) wanted to read Pride and Prejudice. I have a copy but found that when we sat down to read it was difficult to get a flow going because she was constantly asking for an explanation. I couldn't read the script in my copy so was looking for second hand one to read along with her. Ended up buying one from a market stall (brand new actually but half price). Went into charity shop a couple of weeks later and they had three copies! Also my daughter managed to corrupt one of her Friends' DVD discs. I had a scour around the charity shops to no avail. Bought it (very cheaply though) from Ebay and then this week - yes that's right the exact DVD is in the charity shop. Very strange.

I also got the friends scene from a charity shop recently. I got mine for £2.99
lol it has no marks on it and it looks pretty much brand new. I love that game :)
Today I bought a set of lovely drinking glasses from a charity shop, 6 for £1.50. Decided to buy them because the red matches my bedroom and it would lovely in the corner where I keep my alcohol. :)

Do any of you have an iphone? If so I have the best app for you all - search your app store for BLIND LEMON

Its a tool to locate all the charity shops and vintage shops (both or either) in an area. You can type in a postcode or town, or even use your current location to find all where you want to shop

The app is from the Charity Retail Association (previously the Association of Charity shops) and lists 625 UK vintage shops and 8,500 charity shops. This information is also available on the Associations website http://www.charityretail.org.uk/
Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155

everyday I wish I had got an Iphone instead of the cheaper Blackberry!:o
  • Had some really good bargains from charity shops this week. Got my daughter a like new Next tunic for £1.50 in Marie Curie, then I got a summer weight jacket (when we get better weather) for £2 and the best shop was the cats protection shop where they had a sale and all clothes were £1. I got brande new black trousers, Primarni t shirt, M & S shirt and a pair of jeans. So Ive spent £7.50 this week in chaz shops but got tons. Must be karma as I donated 2 bags of clothes and toys my daughter had grown out of.

Ive noticed the chaz shops always have loads of people in these days. The one with the £1 sale was like the Next sale! It was elbows at dawn.
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round

I went into my first charity shop in quite some time this yesterday - all part of the great plan I had not to buy any new clothes this year - minus underwear and other things I can't get in the C/Shops. Well I almost broke this new deal I had with myself and tried on a dress in New Look, I couldn't justify the £24.99 price tag...

Anyhow - I got back on the wagon and ended up with...

Zara BNWTs long floaty floral dress/top - looks lovely with a belt around my rib cage and leggings - £9.50, a bit on the expensive side but it was love at first sight and should have been £35.99 new.
Next long sleeved brown floaty dress comes to my knee and after some modification will look gret for my holiday in two weeks £6.50
Next 1990s white cotton shirt - looks great over the Zara top - £3.50.

All a bit pricier than some of your finds, however for my home town that's good - anyhow, all came in at £19.50 - less than the one dress and I'm very happy.

Roll on the rest of the year. I hope New York has some good Vintage shops. It's going to be interesting going there and not shopping.

It's always like that around here, still no many folk seem to like the things I do so it's okay!

Today's pickings (from the weekly Wednesday flea market we have in the town centre):
    1970's leather lace-up knee high boots £1
Roland Cartier grey leather ankle boots with wood stack heels £1
Tan leather ankle boots with heels circa 1980's £1
1950's boxed set of ladies hankies 95p
1970's black velvet maxi skirt complete with original store tag £1
1970's slash neck sweater with aztec design 50p
