  • oooh am soooo naughty! Am supposed to be saving money not spending it but I keep seeing such gorgeous bargains! :rotfl:
Got a beautiful embroidered and cut out detail dress in the hospice shop yesterday for £1.50 and a lovely soft grey short sleeve cardigan also £1.50 both look fab on and fit like they were made for me :j
Today I discovered a shop called 2nd time which I thought was a 2nds shop or ex catalogue stuff but turned out to be run by Banardos but only had new stuff donated by shops (end of sales, slightly damaged etc) so they had a few different sizes of the same garments and was set up like a regular high street shop. I ended up getting a lovely peacock print tunic/dress for £3 (Dotty P's) and an all in one pant suit with embellishments on the shoulders for £5 (Miss S) :T
    £264.05 / £11,000 in 2011 :j
frugal living 2011 total spend £300
  • ....oh Jesa that dress will look great with some of the length taken off, what a bargain :T

I found a rock and republis white coat/jacket in a CS the other day. Was 10 pounds and way too small for me so didnt buy it. But was wondering if it would have went well on ebay. Is there any way of checking if it is genuine or not?

    This week have bought -
Rocha john Rocha Faux fur gilet
    Gymboree dungerees, babies
    next jeans, babies
    nest dungerees, babies
    plug for bathroom sink!
brand new still in wrapper orchard game for dd (sells for about 10 pounds in shops)

All for 10 pounds, will put game away for christmas, going to try and get majority of christmas toys in CS or car boot this year.

    Love that dress, Jesa!
Do try it on before cutting it, midi length can look spectacular with killer heels.
  • Lovely dress Jesa.

I was really pleased today in the charity shop my little boy found a Spiderman figure and car for 50p (same item just under £20 new), a pair of Next Jeans for my 5 year old for £1.25 and a 100 piece Disney childrens puzzle for £1.25. We were actually stopping in purposely looking for puzzles as my 3 year old has completed all his new christmas puzzles and I'm constantly looking for a harder puzzle. This new puzzle is 6+ and as of yet he hasn't completed it.
I had never thought about checking out the charity shops for more puzzles for him but I will definately make sure it's my first stop now.

I did try it on and its even longer than I realised. It comes down to my calves - swamps me a bit so I am doing to take off about 10 or 12 inches in fact. I would like it to sit just on the knee. Its a little tight around the waist too - the elastic is no longer elastic, it has no give at all and was cutting in so I think I will remove it and put some new stretchy elastic in, that way it will fit fine.

I think I might have to ask my mum to help as I've not sewn a thing since school and don't want to ruin it. I will watch her do it as she's been meaning to teach me for ages

Going to pop out now and have another look as its lunchtime. Going charity shopping for the day with mum tomorrow too:j

Quick whizz around the charity shops and curio market our town hosts on a wednesday. I got:

Clarks' "Country Club" leather shoes (possibly 50's, leather soles, pointy toes) £1.75
1950's gents' purple dinner jacket still with the dry cleaner's tag £5
1970's vinyl waist belt with a groovy buckle 75p
Hardy Amies leather waste bin £1.50 (I'm unaware of them ever doing a household line, possibly from one of their stores, but gorgeous quality leather)
Heap of books (Including last years' Lonely Planet Thailand guide) between 50p and 75p each

Plus I won a groovy 60's mini dress on eBay and had a parcel of vintage goodies from a dear fellow blogger in New Zealand.

I love this style of dress, they've taken their time to come back into fashion but are so easy to wear!
