  • Popped in an Oxfam on the way to the post office not expecting anything (rarely go there as the stuff isn't great and is usually overpriced) and got a gorgeous Oasis leopard print dress in my size! Was £4.99 but have seen these on ebay going for way more.

Nice to see some new posters and more bargains being had. Regarding previous comments about expensive charity shops - there is always going to be a bit of both, its the nature of the beast :) - we can't get all these bargains and then begrudge the staff & volunteers who do get a good price for the things they know about for very good causes.

Saw an amazing pair of brand new Russell & Bromley leather boots today in a charity shop - they were asking £30. Compared to the RRP thats still a great bargain for the right person. They would have been about £300 so 10% is a very good buy. They didn't fit me sadly :(

P.S. Goanmad - I love your outfit today. You look fab in hotpants!

  • I agree with Jesa, that outfit is cracking. I wish I could pull of something like that!

I feel a bit guilty mentioning this but here goes. I went to a local antique and collectables fair. I love autograph books etc. I bought one for £30. Husband was still recovering after three weeks. it had loads of cricketers autographs in it but I wanted it for Cilla Black, Petula Clark etc.
noticed on ebay a similar autograph page to one I had. Contacted a specialist dealer who after I sent him pictures offered me £500 for only three pages!! Sent them to him he took the ones he wanted and sent the rest back. SO already £400 up and still have the ones I wanted plus he gave me a valuation on the other cricketers.

How lucky was I!! So xmas is sort of paid for.

husband now recovered!! So it is worth taking a risk now and then!!

    Thank you:o

I quite agree. For those of us who have lost loved ones to horrible illnesses we don't begrudge a single penny the charities try and raise. Fair play to them I say.
I'd rather spend £10 in a charity shop than line Philip Green's bulging pockets any day of the week.

Well said! I took a large bag of items to a new charity shop which has just opened and are desperate for things. If they don't get anything I guess they will close (that would be one less CS for me to browse around). It was a pile of stuff that I was going to ebay but I was in radical 'Christmas is coming clearout' mode. Items included DKNY, Guess, new My Little Pony stuff, M&S, Oasis etc. Must say it made me feel :D. Loving the extra wardrobe space and I hope they make some money.

A great example, Jasminewhiskers. I'm planning on a pre-holiday sort out and shall be doing the same. It's all very well plundering the chazzas and it's only fair to repay by donating generously.

I have 3 bags of goodies to take in tomorrow to the local Cancer Research shop as the cause is close to my heart

It will give me a chance to have a little browse too hopefully - as if I need an excuse
