    Does vintage just mean old? Or are these items worth something?

    Technically the term vintage refers to any item over 15 years old. As with anything, it is only worth what somebody is willing to pay.

    Well I'm back from a CB and I've got to say I'm slightly diassappointed. Althought the weather was good, there was too many buyers and I think I got there late too, which meant not too many good finds. This CB was quite far and usually a very good one.
    I got:
    * 2 body tops -1 F&F and 1 H&M -20p each
    * BNWT Primark cardi-£2
    *The Ultimate Pocket Positives book BN for £1
    *Set of 7 beautiful china tea set-£4.50
    *3 grey hand stitch designed cushions-£1.50

    There were LOADS of empty gaps in the rows, just shows how many sellers had already gone home!:eek:

    Went to the Cs yesterday and prices looks like they've been hiked up but my mum got a Debenhams brown handbag for £2.

    I've picked up far too much lately to itemise in full!

    Thursday's prize buy was a vintage Jean Varon cocktail dress for £4.99. In this case "vintage" definately means "expensive" as this was the designer who made Emma Peel's wardrobe for The Avengers and highly sought after.

    Friday's finds included a 1970's man's shirt with the original labels still attached for £2.95 and an unopened pot of Philosophy skin care wipes for 80p.

    Yesterday's two jumble sales yielded amongst other things a 1950's knitting manual, a Slix bikini in pristine condition, 3 x 1960's men's suits, 5 leather satchel-type bags, vintage hobnail boots, Barker's men's slip-ons and a couple of ski jumpers.

    Today's car boot sale finds included 6 x 1950's felt hats, a pair of TopShop shoes I've lusted after for ages for £1, a pair of 1960's red wellies, a ballerina musical box, a locking Antler vanity case crammed with vintage scarves and gloves and a bugle beaded 1970's evening jacket with sequinned lapels.

    I went to a couple of charity shops last wk with my mum & picked up 2 Toggi riding tops for £3.75 each, still in great condition. A real bargain as they are quite expensive to buy new, & I don't mind ruining these as I didn't pay too much for them!

    I also got a Portmeirion chicken, the kind they had on the TV programme bread, but all in white for £7. I was so pleased, as I have wanted one like this for so long! Looks great in my kitchen!
  • Has anyone found the prices in the charity shops going up? Had a browse round town yesterday and couldn't believe what they were asking. Items that caught my eye (but were too expensive in my opininon) were: Green Converse trainers £9.99; Medium sized Brass plant pot £12.99; Macys small shopper with pic of a dog £12.99; Fake fur coat £25 and a gents sheepskin jacket £60. All the primark 'atmosphere' stuff tends to be £3.99!! (Dearer than new.) Or maybe i'm just used to jumble sale prices.

    I think it depends on the charity shop.

    You can't blame them for trying to get a good a price as they can in order to raise money for good causes, after all if it doesn't sell they can always reduce it and try again.

    The local vintage shop does a roaring trade in Converse All Stars at £18-20 a pair and I've sold second-hand sheepskins and faux fur coats on eBay for a lot more money than the prices you've quoted.

    I picked up a cute little black satchel style bag (it's very small) for 3.99 BNWT in a charity shop.

    I Also spotted a Fendi spy in petrol colour for £30 in a charity shop but was unsure of its authenticity, so I passed on it and looked it up when I got home so I could go back and check it out, apparently it's quite a rare colour, but it was gone by the next morning. :(
    I'm just hoping it was a fake (I'm hoping so since it was only £30, but you never know..)!

    I'm excited for Saturday as I'm going somewhere where there's a table top sale taking place, plus 6 charity shops all on the same road! :D

    Last week I bought a gorgeous Chloe jumper and a thick Joseph jumper for £10 (the pair). They are immaculate.
