  • Hello all

I am doing my first car boot this Sunday in Warrington and really looking forward to it.

I have been very organised and have lots of toys, dvds, ps2 games, board games, books, toiletries (brand new) baskets/hampers of baby items and skincare etc, electrical items (radios, cd players etc), as well as lots of clothes (kids and ladies). I have a big clothes rail, table, plastic backed rug for the floor to put bits on etc.

My daughter is coming along to help. Will of course take chairs, flask, food etc.

    What I am wondering is:

To price or not to price?? Some of the items I would prefer to sell at a reasonable price (like my hampers/baskets) and have a price marked on these. Other items - I am not too bothered about as long as we get rid and make a bit of spending money. What do you think?
Price some before and see how it goes? I can always take prices off or put on.

Also - how much do I take as a float/kitty? I dont want to take too much but also dont want too little and run out of change.

    Much appreciated.

i take about £25 in 20p, 50, £1 coins (dont forget ur seller fee), poeple often run out of change to begin with as they bring notes, i take a tupperware tub with a lid for float but i keep notes in my pocket...keep ur eyes on ur valuables (anything u want a decent price for) as thieving can be a problem, esp if u get distracted....keep ur car locked too when u've set up as people can creep in ur car uninvited..... oh, and take plenty of carrier bags.....i desperately need to do a carboot myself but its too tempting to go to buy:)

Yes, you do need to take change, we usually have a £30 float, made up of £1 coins, 50p's & odd 20p's etc. We don't change £20 notes for something we are selling for 50p, would rather lose the sale.
Apart from that you sound very well organised.

I never price anything. If people ask I have a figure worked out, higher than I'm willing to take, but most buyers will haggle. If you have priced some items, make them more than you want, then haggle down to what you really want, it usually works.

Good luck & have a super day.
    Best wishes,
    Val:hello:
