Festivals and shoddy weather have put paid to booting over the last couple of weeks, if it stays dry I may attempt one in the morning (depending on tonight's alcohol consumption).

I did go on a charity shop bender yesterday:

1950's black beaded fringed top £3.95
Current tagged TopShop oversized black mesh and chenile jumper (perfect for next weeks' Green Man festival) £2.99
Miso gold sequined mini dress with statement shoulders £2.60
    Ordinary Boys double CD 21p

And went totally mad in the Salvation Army snaffling:
    11 x 1970's women's dagger collar blouses
1960's Ladies' black leather full length coat (think Mod not Matrix!)
    1960's red vinyl handbag
    1940's veiled hat
    1960's pink straw hat
    3 x Kangol mohair hats
7 x vintage late 50's/early 60's pendant necklaces all by known costume jewellery makers including one by Goldette, quite rare and listed on an antiques website for $110 :j
1970's gilt charm bracelet with gemstones
2 x huge silvertone Celtic vintage brooches
1950's Rolled Gold cufflinks with enamelled scotty dog design
    10 x 1960's nylon slips
    Vintage 1950's nylon bra
    1950's cocktail mixing glass
Vintage sheepskin gloves still in their original packaging

Total spend £31 (The most the shop has ever sold in one transaction!!!)
  • Goanmad,no charity shops round by me sell anything vintage anymore,it seems to have dried up! I did mangae to buy 12 paperbacks though the other day for £6.When I've read them I take them back so I think it pays them to sell cheaply.

Good karma, Monkeypuzzle! Whereabouts are you in the UK?

I'm very lucky. The Salvation Army always put the vintage and interesting stuff aside for me. I never quibble over prices and always donate any good quality clothing back to them when I have a clearout.
The owner of the local vintage shop asks the charity shops to keep old stuff aside for her but most of them let me look first as they like to see me wearing it rather than selling it on.
  • thats nice of them! They probably love seeing it go to a good home,I'm in London so its full on vintage with prices to match or over priced Primark tat mainly.I used to buy tonnes of vintage in the Rag Market in Birmingham years ago when it was second hand rather than vintage!!
