Bought a "Fendi" purse for 50p at last Sunday's bootsale. Knew it was probably fake but looked in better condition than my existing one. The nice surprise was finding two £5 notes tucked into a corner of it this morning!

I bought my fella a leather wallet for 50p, a week later he found a $20 dollar note in a pocket in the wallet, changed it up and got just under £14 for it :j

  • Popped to the car boot this morning, got a Little Peoples garage with sounds and 5 cars for £2, 2 Spiderman figures for £1 and a boxed ELC Keyboard and stool (the one still sold in store) for £5 with a Scooby Doo torch chucked in for free. Really really pleased.

Hi, can one of you lovely peeps let me know if the car boot near Sainsbugs is running at the moment? I went last year. I think it was Sun morning 8pm.

    Thanks in advance.

Our charity shops have paperbacks for 50p. Hardbacks in one are £1 but also 50p in the other. I very rarely buy from Oxfam, unless it's a book I really want.

Best wishes for the new baby too.:)

I went into BHF the other day - between £2.99 and £3.75 for tatty paperbacks, 1p + £2.75 p&p for 'like new' or 'very good' on Amazon!

British Heart Foundation shops seem to be the most expensive. Having seen the ridiculous prices they charge for books, I rarely go in, but my 13 year old niece likes to go to different charity shops to look for CDs, so I went to my local one last weekend with her. They wanted £2.99/£3.99 for used CDs, and the one she wanted was badly scratched - I wouldn't let her buy it. They are old titles which she could probably get new on Amazon or eBay for a similar price, but she likes the idea of helping charities and recycling. She eventually got 2 CDs in our local hospice shop for £1.50 and they were both in good condition. And the hospice shop only charges £1 max for a paperback.

I appreciate they are trying to raise funds but they'd sell a lot more (and ultimately raise more money) if their prices were more reasonable.

Wasn't it the BHF that used to sell four paperbacks for 99p? Perhaps it was the CRF.

Whichever it was, I used to buy four regularly and take them back when I'd read them. Much cheaper than library fines..;)

Probably more profitable for the shops too, as I wouldn't pay even 50p for a secondhand paperback.

    I found some bargains today.
I spent £5 on a massive bundle of knitting mags and pattern books all perfect condition and from the past 2 years so all modern stuff.
My youngest got a Pokemon Toy for 50p - amazing because he saw a photo of his brother with a particular toy from 6years ago, said I want one of those and found one today.
My mum found some tea plates for a few pounds and they exactly match sometea cups she bought from a chazza last week.

  • Stopped in to my local again and got a Spiderman costume for £2, various Spiderman figures from 20p to 50p and a few items of clothing for the boys from 20p but mostly 50p. Lovely weather for doing a car boot today.
