I'm hoping one of the few who got this can help.
I bought one for my husband and it is was the display model.
We have just unwrapped it and tried to use it and we have not got the instructions or the controller.
Went back to currys and they can't find the controller and have given us £20 back.
Can you tell me do we need the controller as we can't get the speakers to work....we have bought a hdmi lead and connected the telly to the surround sound and ...no sound coming through.
Can someone please tell us what leads are needed and whether we need the controller also if anyone has a spare instruction booklet i'd be MEGA grateful.
    thanks for reading xx

I had the one from Gloucster with no remote and have been seaching the net for one with little joy. (They weren't offering the £20 off for no remote either so you did OK there) Found the RM-ANU041 at £60 to £65 online but the other "newer" models have an alternate remote RM-ANU031 which is £15 so trying to find out if the RM-ANU031 will drive the RHTG500.

I have downloaded the instructions from the sony website if you can't find the link let me know. One site I visited wanted £15 for a set of instructions!!!

If you find a supplier of the proper remote please can you let me know too.

Won't be setting mine up until the new TV arrives next week but will be looking at other people's experiences

Thanks I'll explore that option - I'm hoping the new Sony TV 's remote will work the basic functions but scanning the user manual suggests the unit does a lot of hidden tricks too with the proper remote

Sony store quoted me £30 ish for a remote, they said the later model G550 remote would work on the G500. Might be worth visiting or phoning your local Sony Store.

thanks for the advice - I await a response from Sony technical HQ, local sony centre weren't fully up to speed on use of a RGHT550 remote (which is the ANU032) instead of the "proper" £60 to £65 one

also for those that have got these
take the itme to check the settings on the appliences you have 'feeding' the Sony unit
things like PS3's have settings that can make a big difference
eg setting the audio stream to bitstream lets the RGHT550 process the sound
makes a big difference on my set up
