Have been after one of these for a while - they were £400 (some online for around £330).

Saw one in Currys yesterday at £199 and went to buy it. When the item went through it the till showed £129.99!! Bargain

I guess they may be in short supply as they are a previous model but it is an absolute bargain for a 3.1 Audio TV Stand especially if you have a Sony Bravia TV (I am still looking after missing out on the Asda one!!)

Here is a pic and spec:

    Sony-RHT-G500_sm.jpg

Enjoy room filling digital surround sound from just one stylish piece of furniture. Hidden within this amazing TV stand is a complete 4 speaker, 3.1 channel surround sound system. For TVs between 32" - 40".

This real is a great deal if you want a top notch stand for your TV!!
  • Currys call centre haven't got any record of the stand at all, nor the SKU number above. That's a real shame as we got the bigger stand a few months back when that was reduced, and my inlaws are looking at the smaller size one. If any generous souls spot one in Sheffield or Aylesbury/Milton Keynes area, please PM me!

Try getting the number of a local store from here http://www.saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php and putting in currys. I managed to get through to a branch who told me about another branch having one in stock, but the call centre told me they didn't recognise the SKU.

I told them that another store had told me there was stock and then a minute or two later the lady found it and put me through to the store. I managed to pick one up in Harrow for £129.97.

    Hi

I think if you have a Sony there are benefits (same remote etc.) but I believe you can plug any compatible TV into it

    best with HDMI
i have a panasonic version of this.
good set ups that really bring out the sound.
bear in mind the space on the shelves will be limited
at a squeeze i got the V+ box ,PS3 and 360 + HD dvd in mine
the sony lists its designed for just 2 items

    telly.jpg

its the same set up but without sony's media port plus mine only has the one HDMI
however since i run an HDMI switch its no problem

i got mine from currys in the same set up with a discontinued model for £79.97 :p
so to give you my experience
pop into your local currys and get them to stock check using the model number "Sony RHT-G500"
if its discontinued then the call centres dont have the same info as instore
also check whats on display with the TV's.i travelled to get mine after my local currys checked stock.then a couple of weeks later i saw one on display in store :o so it didnt even show on their own system!

Panasonic version is better for us (even though we have a 40" Sony Bravia) but i prefer the cabinet doors on yours, the Sony one doesn't have them
