Hypno's "no more boom or bust" diary

  • I've reached target - I've saved £5,000 :j in nine months (and a bit)! I thought this would take the entire year as I only earn £15k pa and rent is £420pm (and that's a bargain). I'm a bit surprised to reach target as it's been an expensive year with £620 dental charges and £600 for my parents wedding anniversary  and another £320 going to various weddings :D

I've created a spreadsheet of housebricks (£50 a square) and that's now full. I've now got an annexe :p which already has £250 coloured in. I'm chuffed to bits!

Thanks to everyone here, most especially the wonderful Hypno for this thread and the inspiration.

Well done hiphouse - that is a SERIOUS success :T:T:T

I have signed up to Flylady this week  Although on the basis that I work full time, I will only be aiming for level 1 - with anything from the higher levels being seen as a significant bonus! After all, at the moment, I am not even achieving level 1 most days/weeks :o

Although my new calm conservatory space is now housing the bikes.......which are normally kept locked in the shed.

But someone has been into the garden and UNSCREWED the bolt etc and taken it away - they have taken nothing from the shed, bikes and lawnmowers still there, but have just taken the bolt

I can only assume that either:
    1. They are looking to come back for the contents of the shed........hence putting the bikes indoors or
    2. It is an MSE'er trying to save on the cost of a new bolt from B&Q
Bizarre.......a little unnerving.......and very annoying because my conservatory was doing sooooo well

Good morning Hypno, perhaps you should wire the shed door handle up to the mains in case of nocturnal visitors?

Well done on the savings Hiphouse, I am impressed!

If only that sort of thing were allowed.........

I've never really seen the point of certain sponsored events.....things like a marathon yes but some of the sillier stuff I always think is a bit pointless and if the time was donated to volunteering instead it'd be better. Now a sponsored declutter would definitely catch my interest ;)
As for the girl who shouted at your OH for not sponsoring her-that's just plain rude !

Like the new diary - you've achieved a whole lot in a small space of time. I know how you feel about the situation with your DD being away but from the other side of it. My parents and family live some disatnce away from me and I would love to pop in for a cuppa with them impromptu. The only good thing is when I see them it is quality time together :)

Hello  thought I would pop by...never seem to get time to have a diaryland catch-up these days, just make the odd flying visit to the daily chat. Natasha doesn't like me using the computer when she's around (quite right too, I should be entertaining her instead!), and either throws it at the floor or pours some kind of sticky substance onto it at every opportunity. Ahhhhh, the terrible twos...... :o

Anyway, so pleased to see how well you are doing and how much progress is being made, not just with the finances, but with the balance you seem to have now.

Will make more of an effort to keep up, and can't wait to see you breaking the sub-20k barrier. :T

    Morning!

How strange about the bolt :confused:

Quite unnerving to say the least. A lady in my office is struggling with a knicker thief. There are some strange goings on out there at the moment!
Well done hiphouse, that is an amazing achievement!
