What's this about?[/title]
From noon on Wednesday 30 September, all Freeview, Top Up TV and BT Vision viewers will need to retune their Freeview box or set to continue getting the full service.
You've probably seen this pop up as a message whenever you turn your box on in the past few weeks. The retune is due to an update of the Freeview platform, which will make a couple of channel alterations, bring it in line with govt. guidelines, and make it ready to carry HD broadcasts at some point in future.

How to retune[/title]
For most, retuning will be a simple matter of pressing a menu button and finding the auto tune/full rescan option, much as you did when first setting up Freeview. This can be done any time after noon on 30 Sept.
If you're unsure how to do it on your equipment, and you can't find the instructions, the official TV Retune site has a fairly comprehensive database of user manuals, as well as more detailed retuning info.
If you're still having trouble, you can call the TV Retune Helpline on 0845 605 1122.

What will retuning get me?[/title]
The main noticeable changes relate to various channel alterations. The retune will allow Five to be received as widely as the other terrestrial channels, and add one new channel, called Quest.
On the downside, the reshuffle means a small percentage of viewers will no longer be to get ITV3 and 4, and furthermore spells the end of the Community Channel on Freeview for everybody, though it'll continue to be available through satellite and cable.
In addition, there will be an order change for some channels, so don't go mad thinking you've lost your favourite show, check the new order

We have cable and our channel 5 has just gone off:eek:
On freeview, channel 5, ITV3 and ITV4 went 15 minutes ago.
So after the constant badgering of us all via the tv to retune at noon to keep our channels they took them off earlier - wouldn't telling us that have been important?
Thank god for regular tv, was enjoying today's episode of The Wright Stuff when it went off!The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Seems a bit daft to take C5 off at 9.30am when you can't re-tune till 1pm...0

We have 2 sony TVs, both are at the moment unable to receive 5. Had to watch Wright Stuff on analogue. Why didn't they warn us we could lose some programmes early. OH worries that we are the small percentage who will now no longer receive 5. Just going to retune later as instructed and hope everything is Ok. We are in West Yorks. Was it just regional ?0
