  • I just sent a recorded delivery letter and I'll back it up with another email to their Customer Service informing them that its on its way.

@ rca779, how much was that going to cost you and more to the point how would you work it out ?

Wish I'd never heard of Mobiles.co.uk ! I bought a phone from buymobilesphones.net last year and had no problems with them, everything was clear and above board no problems.

Mobiles.co.uk seem to do their best to mislead and scam and then ignore any complaints whenever thay can.

Wonder if BBC Watchdog would be interested !

It was £30/month, but with 8 months free, so effectively £120.
I had also gone through Quidco to get £40 cash back and I was going to trade-in my old Nokia 8800 for £40 through one of the mobile recycling sites.

So I would have got the phone for just £40 for the year or £3.33 a month.

Do you need to complete the return within the 14 days.

(If so get it off to them so they cannot say "sorry, too late")

Anyway it seems Ben has gone on holiday I got an auto response from him quoting an email address for someone at CPW so I forwarded it onto them, still no response so it looks like a trip to the post office for me anyway.

Ben has been lurking here this evening, but clearly chose to keep his powder dry, so don't waste time waiting for him to deign to respond to your open letter!

Ahh see what you mean :D
I agree it's a waste of time waiting for a response I'd just send it back and cancel esp. as it seems the paperwork backs up the ad !!!

  • Quick update ....

So I posted the recorded letter yesterday (30/09/09) at lunchtime (along with my last cash back claim to buymobilephones.net). I also followed up with an email to the customer service to say I'd sent a letter and asked them to have the curtsey to acknowledge this fact by replying to my email, guess what ? 30 hours later and nothing ! not even a “we’ll be in touch” ! just what do their customer care team do ?????

Anyway by a sick twist of fate and as if to rub salt into my wounds, I got this email from Buymobilephones.net today.

    “Hi Mr ### #######,

We are happy to confirm that your cash back claim has been received and has been accepted.

Payment will be made by BACS direct into the bank account you have provided us with and should show in your account within fourteen days from the 29/10/2009.

    Kind regards,

    BuyMobilePhones.net”

That’s how an internet mobile phone sales company should operate, only posted it out yesterday, brilliant service !

But it also suggests that MOBILES.CO.UK should have received my letter today too . . . something tells me they’ll ignore that too , but I live in hope and I'll this thread up to date if anyone is interested.

Thanks for all the advice so far.

Don't you need to get the phone back to them? Remember they won't accept post on Saturdays, and don't look like they are going to quickly supply you a returns address so don't rest on your laurels!

There is a 14 day returns process for all customers which allows for a return if the deal is not what the customer expected

    If you say so

The customer has to get a returns reference and an address where the phone should be returned to do that..... and since thats impossible, you might aswell disregard the 14 day returns process.

    Hi Chris,
It's only impossible if you play by their rules ;)
Theres nothing to stop you sending something back to the office on the paperwork without a returns number.

Bonkers - 5 days after this post started, the erroneous / misleading deal has still not been corrected. I have a good mind to make a formal complaint to ofcom.
