Mobiles.co.uk - deliberately misleading advert?

I agree that Orange should be involved in this along with Ofcom taking into consideration the new rules that came into effect a couple of weeks ago.
Got to laugh bearing this in mind Ben's comments last week on his blog relating to the Ofcom details ......
http://blog.mobiles.co.uk/mobile-news/ofcoms-gc-23-now-in-effect/#commentsGeneral Condition 23 (or GC 23 if you have a penchant for abbreviations) aims to prevent service providers and their resellers from engaging in dishonest, misleading or deceptive conduct. Any breach of these rules could result in service providers being fined up to 10 percent of their turnover.
All very well and good, but what does this mean to me and you, Mr and Mrs Joe Public? Well, the new rules state that providers must:- Not mis-sell mobile phone services
- Make sure the customer intends and is authorised to enter into a contract
- Make sure consumers get the information they need at the point of sale
- Make sure that the T’s & C’s of cash back deals offered by their retailers are not unduly restrictive and;
- Carry out certain due diligence checks in respect of their retailers
Senior Marketing Manager here at Mobiles.co.uk, Ben Godber, had this to say; “It’s good to see Ofcom stepping in and doing something about an ever growing problem. A small minority are giving the industry and the vast majority of honest retailers a bad name but this should help to stamp these kind of activities out once and for all”.It's not just about the money0 -
Wondered where you were !!! (see post #40)0

And still the web site has not been updated - 24 hours later! How long does it take to change one line which is mis-leading in the extreme. How many others have fallen for this and are complaining or still in the dark?0

Your open letter here is fine up to a point.
You wouldn't be able to use it to prove they have received your request for a resolution or cancellation.
There is no indignity in sending a recorded letter, and if you do not get a request to them to cancel within their timescale they will throw it back at you irrespective!0 -

Yeah but the problem is that the T+C of their 14 day return is that the Sim/Phone is unused, They can throw that back at me in anycase ?
I just wanted a resolution without the !!!!ing matches these things can become. All I wanted was a nice new phone.
Anyway it seems Ben has gone on holiday I got an auto response from him quoting an email address for someone at CPW so I forwarded it onto them, still no response so it looks like a trip to the post office for me anyway.0 -
You are wanting the contract cancelled because you were missold, the use of the SIM doesn't come into it (and wasn't mentioned in the rep's post telling you "There is a 14 day returns process for all customers which allows for a return if the deal is not what the customer expected").
If you look up the other threads on mobiles.co.uk here you will see they do prolong the agony!
Don't let the returns window elapse!0 -
Quentin's quite right.
The problem with mobiles.co.uk is they drag it out to get you past the deadlines as happened with me and others on here.
You will be waiting forever to get replies from them and when you do it will be too late.
As Quentin says theres lots of threads that demonstrate this if you've not already read them
