i have a Q for those that are dieting and exercising
was exercise a part of your life before you started dieting, or is it something you have started, as a result of your weight loss?
its just that there are people on here who seem to be quite active, and i just cant see why they would need to diet, with the amount of exercise they do - unless they use it as a way to cancel out all the junk they prefer to eat, in which case, where does WW come in?
Even basic activities like weeding give you an additional 0.5pts for every 10mins, and most people would garden for at least half an hour, so that should cover a packet of crisps - but with some people going to the gym 3+ times a week, and doing other stuff, but they still dont seem to lose consistently, im just intrigued at what else is going on in their lifestyle, that would mean the additional exertion, isnt converting into weight loss
tbh, having an active lifestyle, espec exercise focused, isnt condusive with a mentality that results in being overweight - so i was just wondering if the exercise has come as a result of the weight loss, being more or less been achieved
F
Exrecise has always been a part of my life - walking everywhere at an absolute minimum, also cycling, running, aerobics, dancing, rambling, boxercise, mountaineering, swimming etc. I can't imagine not being active and walk for at least an hour and a half every single day (unless I'm ill). I have had an ankle injury for a while and haven't been running for ages but am still trying to keep active by cycling and dancing.
I also eat quite a lot and I'm not that heavy (so my basal metabolic rate is low), so those are two reasons why I'm doing WW! :rotfl: Exercise does help with weight loss. A lot.
NBirdy - don't be put off. Yes, you do need to keep up the exercise but the effects are cumulative.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

I've done plenty of things over the years...
As an apprentice we had to do cross country running, play football, swim, go to the gym etc at least twice a week, also walked to work every day.
Then I went on first WW, didn't do much exercise, got to a BMI of under 25 although not to goal as it was a lower target weight way back then..
I did Jazzercise for a few years, I loved it, could go to lots of different in a week before I had DD. Was a great workout and I had a great teacher, seeing other women in lycra always spurred you on to try to look as good as them (though I never did!!)
I've done the gym but ended up with plantar faciitis, never had it before the treadmill, but had been heavier before. Stopped going one winter when my SAD kicked in eally badly.
I was always busy at work, walking or standing, using my hands (I was a maintenance fitter till a couple of years back)
I also tried various food plans over the years - 'you are what you eat' and slimming world, WW again, and a variety of local sliming classes which were just different versions of WW or SW.
The drinking 0.6 fluid ounces of water per pound of water just made me go to the loo all the time, never lost a pound on that one!!
I started martial arts just over two years ago, and that's not really a cardio workout but I do it and stick with it because I enjoy it and who knows when you might need it?
So now I'm back on WW, I was heavier than I'd ever been. I'm not yet 'coming out' about my weight - suffice to say my BMI was over 40 when I started. but it's now lower.
Over the years I've gradually eaten healthier, more veggies, more wholemeal, changed to low fat and diet almost everything (still waiting on low cal chocolate though!) but at the end of the day I think i'm one of those people who arent' destined to ever be a size 10!
I can look at food and weight goes on...but in saying that if I stick 100% to a diet it also comes off, so there is an element of overeating and underexercising involved.
The diets I've not tried are Atkins, cabbage soup and cambridge. I was interested in catabolic foods for a week or two till I realised I was never going to eat enough apples and carrots to make a difference!

wow, detailed reply ailuro! Thanks for your comments guys about my loss - helps with motivation levels and hopefully that is another 4lbs that I will never see again!
Flea, i guess i have been a lazy and occassional excerciser, and never really made the time for it - until I actually have had the free time to do it - if that makes sense!
Kids are now at school and nursery, gym is free and 5 minutes away, classes start in the morning just after kids dropped off, so no excuse not to go now! I have also finally realised that I need to excercise continuously and hopefully forever in some form, in order to stay thin, once i do finally lose the weight!
Maybe that's where WW comes in - making me tie in the two things together - healthier food and more activity - especially when using the points tracker!0 -
Afternoon all!! where r u guys??
Hope ur having a good, pointy day. Ive just nibbled on 2 very small squares of chocolate - nt v nice actually so won't be having any more. Had my porridge for brekkie (some at 8am and finished it off at about 10.30am) have just had my lunch o soup with 3 pieces of bread and may have the same tonite as it was nice!
been trying to drink more water so have had 3 glasses today so far inc my tea - try to have a small glass each time I go into the kitchen.
Sorting out paperwork and stuff at home today and then going out in a bit for a meeting the NHS are running about WW... not sure of the details but will let you now later!
My foot is really hurting today so didn't make it to aerobics which I was quiteupset about. Broke my leg about 6 months ago and was told it would hurt more in the cold weather, so trying to be careful and wear thick socks! Also saw that they do line dancing at another leisure centre, which sounds like fun!!0 -
I was at work - I work from Mon to Fri.
Shame about your foot, hope you feel better soon.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I had a sneaky midweek WI today, 131.8lbs!
Still going down. I am amazed as I haven't been doing that well. Although I've been so busy and stressed at work that I'm not really eating properly (but snacking on sweets still). Bad bad bad!
I'm going to make up for it this weekend by eating three balanced meals per day and lots of walking/dancing, and will hope for the best for Monday's official WI.
ailuro2, I was very interested to read your reply above about exercise, thanks for taking the time to type all that!

Sorry! Been very busy at work.
Managed to put a pound on this week  not happy but it hasn't stopped me eating.0 -
Friday weigh in. Lost another pound.:j
Am very pleased as sneaky weigh in had me staying the same, and I didn't have my magic BNS chips at dinner last night.
Did my measurements, have lost an inch off my waist - had to remeasure just to make sure - my trousers are even looser now than they were last week. I'll have to take them in a bit, loose trousers make me feel thin even when I'm not!:rotfl:
My martial arts suit had been straining at my belly, but it's fitting much better lately. I know for sure that it wont stretch as it's made from thick, very tightly woven cotton.
rotherham lass, I know it's a hard struggle when you're busy at work, I try to take a few lower point snacks and leave them in my drawer to eat on the run instead of grabbing something from the vending machine or canteen (our works canteen has healthy eating posters - that's the only place in there that you'll see a bit of brocolli that's properly green!!)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Another great week ailuro2! Very impressed with your results.
plzhelpmesave, hope your foot is feeling better. Not good when you've got the motivation to exercise, but cant!
Tara, fingers crossed that Monday brings another great loss for youSomebody needs to bring good news on here on Monday and it's not going to be me
Rotherham Lass, I've kind of fallen off the wagon for the last 2 days tooStruggling hard to get back on track today but all the party leftovers aren't helping.... Had a very naughty but delicious chinese meal on Wednesday night, then full on kids party buffet yesterday - mini cornish pasties, sausage rolls, little sausages, crisps, cheese, party rings, mini muffins and birthday cake covered in chocolate buttons, dolly mixture etc etc. Feeling very bloated today, and also due TOTM any day so that's not helping either. Pah.
