Correct bra Size and 'big' knickers

Just quickly, if you're thinking of making the journey especially for Bravissimo I do suggest you call and make an appointment. I haven't been able to get fitted at the one in Covent Garden before because they've been so busy.0

Lots of recommendations for Bravissimo but AFAIK they cater for ladies with the sort of figure I used to dream of having.
Any suggestions for best place to get fitted if you are round about 34C.0 -
Debenhams and john lewis both fit the same way as bravissimo now - although you may be surprised as the most common mistake is wearing too big a back and too small a cup, and bravissimo start at a d cup.0

I might give john lewis a try first then and see how I go. I will leave Bravissimo for when I am really desperate!Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0

i have always got my bras from la senza as they do a particular style i love, a kind of balconette that doesnt come up too high. i find no matter what size i try in a low cut bra like your average plunge, i will fall out and have 4 boobs, so i think style also has a lot to do with the fit! i also find that george at asda ones fit really well, but i dont buy them any more as they arent that much cheaper and dont last as long. the seam started to unwravel on my last one from there between the boobs when i was out shopping, luckily i noticed and had to run into the nearest shop and buy a emergency one, just in time as it snapped in two at the front as i took it off :eek::eek::eek::eek:Mummy to

I fit perfectly into most 36D or 34DD's (I usually can tell by looking at the cups if it will fit), but without adding the extra inches I would be a 32F?? That would be like wearing my stick insect teens back size?
I measure 39 around the boobies I think.
Can you only get your bras from Bravissimo if you measure like this?
kjmtidea - John Lewis stocks many of the same bras as Bravissimo, for much the same price.
Years ago I went from a 36E to a 30H. The cup size was about right, but the back size was WAY out :rotfl: I fit into the Freya bras best at the moment, although Panache fit ok too, but for some reason make me look droopy even though i'm not particularly! Fantasie is hopeless with their enormous back sizes. I need a 28 back in Fantasie, except they don't make one
Craftyscholar - I would give Bravissimo a try as you never know. I persuaded a friend of mine to go, even though she wore a 34B bra and didn't believe me that she was wearing the wrong size. She came out a 30DD!0 -
What is the definitive guide for measuring yourself? I understand the inches around you being the 30 32 bit, but how does the cup size work?
I've never been fitted properly, and have all manner of ill fitting bras. Ironically, the only bras that I own now that I think fit properly are from Matalan. I bought 4 of them at once as they were only £6 each, but it is probably time I checked what size I should be! I just don't feel comfortable getting my kit off in front of a stranger to get a professional measure tho!0 -

You can't apart from working out what's wrong with the ones you are wearing.
Go and get fitted. There's really no excuse not to. You don't have to get your kit off at all if you don't want to*, and it's not like the fitters will comment.

I was wearing a 38B and came out of Debenhams with a 32E - the E cup is spot on but I found the back rather tight so of my own accord moved up to a 34E. The girl told me to put the 32E over the back of a chair to stretch it a little but it never did and it feels so constricting.
Last time I got measured the lady said "You are a 34E today!"
I suppose because I have always considered myself broad shouldered I could not possibly have a small back. I was dead chuffed to find out I was an E cup.:)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I hate M&S for measuring. They have ALWAYS got me wrong. I went to an independant store and she didn't measure me, just guessed by looking at me and she put me in a bra that has got to be the comfiest I have ever worn. I have to say I am a different size in every shop I go in though and every style, every designer etc. I wish they were all just made off the same plan!!!!!0
