  • Morning all

Lovely day here , breezy but sunny so washing on line blowing nicely.

Day off today and was going to have a lie -in but my DD2 asked if I would give her a lift to work. She has a big interview for a promotion this afternoon and has been preparing for it for a couple of days with DD1 (who works at same bank but is a couple of grades higher than DD2) She was in a bit of a state -so I took her in. She does stress quite alot (I wonder where she could get that from???:o) I don't think she thinks she holds much hope of getting the job as she hasn't really been there that long but at the very least the interview will be good experience for her.

So was out shopping early as didn't seem worth coming home first, so hit Asda and Mr T before they got busy and picked up some good YS deals (might have to go that early again:rotfl:) Rest of day is going to consist of cleaning and ironing (oh the joy!!!!)

Cod loin for tea, with lots of veg, HM soup for lunch with HM bread (just the one slice - am sticking to my diet!)

JackieO - good luck with the looking and not spending - I called in Aldi yest to get some of the veg/fruit deals and ended up buying a paella pan set, chorizo, extra paella rice etc - couldn't resist!

Bargainbird - thinking of you and yours

NPM - hope you feel better soon

Purpleivy - loved the poem (and the sentiments in it)

    Molly ((((Hugs))))

    Have a good day everyone

PS. Has anyone heard from halight lately - seems ages since last post or have I missed them. Also still no news from SunnyGirl?

Mummysaver - I have pm'd you re fb

Pipkin....La Tasca often have vouchers on here if you have one near you

Thank you NPM. I've just checked and we do :T I've not heard of them before.

Now all we need to do is think of some activities to do for a group of children, based on Spain, before we go out for our meal :)

    Thanks floss.

We did France - that was our first one :) Finale to the activities was the children got to destroy a model Bastille prison, one of the mum's had made :D

Our last one was Italy [with a volcanic finale] and Spain is next on the list. The plan is to introduce the children to different traditions, foods, history ect of countries around the world.

I don't want to take this thread off topic, but is it tradition in Spain to have a rotten tomato fight? I wonder if the parents would appreciate their children being covered in tomatoes? I know the kids would enjoy it though :rotfl:

    :T:T:T

    Thank you floss :)

Not sure we would get away with the children throwing them at each other, so perhaps a bowl of over-ripe tomatoes where they can can just give them a bit of a squish. They can help make tomatoe soup then :)

    Hi Pipkin.

2 topical things coming up around that time would be.....Dia de los muertos (day of the dead) and All saints day...this is a 3 day celebration which starts on Oct 31st up to Nov 2nd which is All souls day.....it is a non commercial version of our sad equivalent Halloween.
It is a big occasion in Spain and I will happily send you info.

The other things is of course Christmas as it is celebrated in a slightly different way over there up until Jan 6th...Three kings day ..this is also a big day for children and celebrations. This is traditionally when they will get their presents not xmas day.
I will gladly send info on these things too if useful. Even New Year has its traditions such as eating 12 grapes on the stroke of midnight.
Will do it by PM to avoid going OT on here:o

Pipkin - Festivals for any reason are the norm all over Spain, the main bunch being the Moors & Christians here or the Kings Parade on the 5th January here

Nearly every festival ends with a big fireworks display, so maybe tie it in with Bonfire Night.

Will be there this time next week, can't wait.
