It rankles between me and H a bit - I asked (yes asked, never get given them ) at the weekend if he could get up with the kids and the first words out of his mouth were "if I have to......I didn't sleep well". This isn't the first time that's been trotted out and he fails to realise that I STILL have to get up even if I've had a naff nights sleep.....

~knock knock~ may I come back in :hello:
I have been MIA for a long time, seems like forever since I have been hanging over this garden fence and I feel I have missed so much news and gossip.
~hugs hugs hugs~ to all those in need
Now I am back on my feet again the OS way will need to be back with a vengeance since our incomings are now at a minimum.
I shall try and catch up with the news as much as I can but I hope that all the old faces (not old literally
) are well and a warm hello to all those I don't know

Bitsy I second what Floss says. It isn't fair for you never to get a lie in. My OH was scrupulously fair about lie ins when our kids were doing that early morning thing. He was amazing about all the baby stuff -nappies etc and now he ferries them about at the weekend and evening, gets home early to go to school meetings with them, took ds1 to the hospital for all his appointments taking time off work to do so. I take it for granted really because why on earth shouldn't he do those things as he is their dad? But when I hear about other dads and what they don't do -sil's ex a good example-he took it to extremes and b*****d off:rolleyes: I'm profoundly grateful to have such a good husband.
Sorry didn't mean to sound smug, he isn't perfect, he could do with some lessons in spontaneous romantic gestures...
Anyway, enough of husbands I came on here to say I've just picked a good dessert bowl full of raspberries. I will share them with ds1 tonight as we are the only ones who appreciate them.
I've also been standing on my kitchen stool in my garden armed with a broom in order to pick 25 huge gorgeous golden quinces. There are still a lot on the uppermost branches that I don't think even the OH will be able to reach.
It's time to make quince jelly;) I will cook the fruit today and jelly it tomorrow.0 -
Molly - hope money is sorted out quickly and fairly painlessly, sounds like an extra worry you could well do without. Hope all goes well in hospital xx
Bitsy - sorry to hear about your gran, sad news but you can't make yourself feel more than you do, if someone isn't a big part of your life and you don't really get on with them then it's hard to worry or even care a huge amount. Hope your dad is okay though. As for your oh and the lie ins, is it poss that you could negotiate an afternoon nap at the weekend? This is the solution a friend of mine settled on, her oh got sat afternoons off and she got sun afternoons!
Jackie - hope your appt isn't cancelled again next week, don't like to think of you swinging about for too long lol!
MSD - hope Tris gets his sense of humour back again soon and that his meds settle down.
Done a bit of tidying, time for a coffee and some brekkie/elevenses now I think! Shame there's no cake left, may have to get on and make some more, otherwise lunchboxes will be a little sad! Luckily I have some almond fingers stashed in the back of the cupboard, cunningly hidden behind dried soya! Anyone got a recipe for these? Never made them, but I love them!

Gawd, that certainly comes under the 'stuff you don't need' category:rolleyes:. Don't about anyone else but I just used to mash food with a fork.mummysaver wrote: »

Morning
Have not read yesterdays or todays thread yet so apologies for not mentioning anyone:o
I just wanted to give people a bit of warning about the dangers of not taking Tamiflu:rolleyes:
As you know I have had Swine Flu this week and it has been awful. I thought I was getting over it but have been very ill the last couple of days.....yesterday ended up at emergency GP with breathing problems and in a nutshell it has set my asthma off terribly...usually I rarely even need to take my inhaler as my asthma is so mild.
Am now on 3 days high dose steroids and the GP said if I hadnt had the course of Tamiflu the Swine Flu would have hospitalised me:o
There does seem to be a general opinion that it isnt worth taking it and the side effects are not worth it etc but please people look into it properly if you or yours do get Swine Flu and make a proper informed choice. Its a nasty virus. Don`t take any chances.
Off to catch up now;)0 -
Morning all,
I havent been aroung as my little boy started nursery so things have been a bit hectic here, he loves it and loves getting into his uniform every morning.
My Os-iness for today is. Beds stripped and remade linen is all on the line, front room and downstairs has been cleaned and tidied. Bubble and squeak has been made ready to cook for dinner tonight with Eggs and Ham.
I need to make some cakes for lunches so will probably do banana muffins and I need to use up some plums so I might make a plum cake.
Noahspeniless mum I hope you are feeling better.
Hugs to all those who ned them.

NPM - hope that you are on the road to recovery now, any flu is horrible, I think people forget because so many call a bad cold flu! But swine flu seems absolutely awful and personally if the only benefit was shortening it by even a few hours I'd still be taking tamiflu if I had it.
Thrifty - I used a fork too, it had always been done that way for kids in my family so I just assumed everyone did it, that is until I started to hear other mothers going on about weaning onto lumpy food and having problems, I just didn't mash quite so well as the kids got older!
Just had a call from oh, somehow looks like we are organising this bloomin bbq - pah! I was looking forward to just turning up and eating, but it seems that the organiser isn't quite so organised and since about 60 people will be there it seems like we're gonna be doing a lot! So need to make up some chilli sauces, good job I grabbed scotch bonnets reduced last night, get some charcoal for the firepit, find extension leads and twinkling lights, get some burgers and sausages and bbq stuff out of freezer and check on salad stuff! Hmmm, will be turning the bloke who's throwing the "party" upside down and shaking some money out of him for it all! I do like him, but it's a bit much having it thrown at me at the last minute! Anyway best get going, oh needs some help putting up the tarpaulin!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

I have to go again soon to use up some more vouchers so might stock up in the sugar........
Didn't really make myself clear! There are 15 x 1kg bags in a pack. Works out at just less than 53p each. :money:IF you have a card or know someone who does AND you live near enough to be passing AND you can use it yourself or share a pack with someone, it's definitely worth it. Otherwise you probably don't want to know!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Sadly he does the ironing so can't pull that one out as punishment :rotfl:
He got up 40 mins after that & told me to go back to bed. Couldn't grasp the fact that the moment had passed and I couldn't have dropped off after being up and out of bed. Too late and a dollar short
In many respects he's a wonderful H - he's far more domesticated than many blokes BUT when it comes to me having one lie in a week it's never forthcoming and there always seems to be an excuse. On the occasion that I have had a lie in he then needs to go back to bed himself  I have to say we argue the most about the kids, I am too hard, he's too soft, I feel he underminds me in front of DS (who know's his dad is a soft touch) etc etc.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
