  • Hi,

I know this is an old thread, but expect some of you are still registered to receive update's one clarification request:

Having received such a a ticket from UKPC and now just received a letter from Dept Recovery Plus Ltd.

When first writing an appeal I implied that I as the driver of the vehicle at the time of it being parked well over the white lines in a free car park!

Of course they did not accept the appeal, so here I am today and they are obviously writing letters to me as I wrote the appeal; I think I may have used the words "I" so implied I wass driving, but of course do not have a copy of the appeal as online.

I was not actually driving the car, so in a court of law would obviously have to tell the truth; but they could believe I was lying at that time...

The question is am I worrying to much as it would be a ridiculous to take to court anyway as a free car park?

I am planning to ignore all the way at this time....

    Thanks guys.....

Yep you are worrying too much, PPC tickets are a scam to just ignore. Your plan is correct.

Watchdog confirmed what we've been saying for months, both the recent Watchdog programme articles on PPC scams are linked to our main top threads on the board here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

Have a read of lots of threads on that link, any cases about any private parking co's (PPCs) are the same as yours, don't just look for UKPC threads. You'll soon get the picture that this isn't an isolated thread and your case is far from unique.

Then laugh when you receive each sad extortion attempt letter from debt collectors - which you'll already be expecting once you've read the top thread showing the threatograms in pics.

    HTH
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi All - new member here.

I too received a fine from UKPC and ignored it. I then received a letter from them containing a demand (final reminder) along with a picture of my car at the "scene of the crime" along with a tear off payment slip.

today i have received the debt recovery plus letter saying that they will take action ranging from an Attachment of Earnings order, to bailiffs etc...

in the letter is says "you can view a selection of ccj's we have successfully obtained against people who have ignored our correspondence on our website "- it then gives the url

looks like they have been successfulk in some cases....or not?

    shall i just continue ignoring?
  • hey all, great forum:)
I recieved a ticket from UKPC in a private retail park, I looked up your posts on here and ignored the ticket. THEN DVLA must have disclosed my mums personal information to UKPC as 2 weeks later a letter arrived in mums name as the car is registered in her name requesting a FINAL NOTICE of 90 quid!, Mum sent them a stonking letter explaining that The drivers who all have legal use of this vehicle are adamant there was no charge notice received and as a result she is fully aware of the legal requirements third party wishing to obtain monies for suggested fines/penalties/charges as well as being fully aware that The registered keeper has no liability for a ticket issued by a private company for parking on private premises, only the driver does!
Is this true?? Well-now we have also recieved letter from Debt Recovery plus demanding payment and intended litigation, i called them up and spoke to somone who said that infact mum does have an obligation to disclose the driver who allegedly recieved the charge notice!!! Is this true?? AND that their paper work is made up by lawyers?????
I have sent them a letter (copy is available if you need it) explaining any further correspondance will be regarded as harrasment and ignored and to proceed with court proceedings......has anyone here been slapped with court proceedings via DRP???
    heeeeeeeeeelp
  • sorry i forgot to say that, BAILIFFS are only appointed once there is court judgement against you and you havent paid in the time frame specified, any idiot who turns up at your house will not be a bailiff it will be a debt collector or a debt collector claiming to be a bailiff!
Please also note that nothing is a 'DEBT' until a court rules it as one. Any heavy that turns up especially on private property tell them to get lost or you'll be reading them their rights!

    You are correct. Cease contact.
The alleged 'debt' recovery company is powerless and has no legal standing.
  • shall i also just ignore what comes in the post?

You can read it and have a good laugh if you like. Apart from that you don't have to do anything.

What they fail to tell you is that before they can do any of this they have to actually take you to court and win!
The "successful" CCJs on their website may not be anything to do with parking at all, or they could be made up.
    Carry on ignoring.
