I have just received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus. I have never had any parking ticket stuck on my car, so the letter was a bit of a surprise.
My question is should I ignore them from the outset, or should I send a letter back saying that even though I am the keeper of the vehicle I dispute their charge.
Do as advised just ignore them! Contacting them is a waste of time if there ain't a cheque in the envelope they don't read em!0 -
On a technical note about the notice,
The one that I have seen is headed up "parking collection services" and in the small print says that "parking collection services is a trading name of Debt Recovery Plus Ltd" however the company reg number on the next line is , 6978341, is registered to "Parking Collection Services Ltd" not the above.
Then on the next line is another company reg no 6774150 which is registered to the above.
The Company Act requires that all headed paper must clearly show the companies name, reg no and headoffice address
Because there are 2 co reg numbers and inconsistancies in the naming of the sender it is not clear which legal entity the correspondance is from and therefore breaches the act.
Personnaly I am just going to ignore the letter, but if it does come back to haunt us I might just bring that one up0 -

I recently received a parking ticket when I parked in a supermarket car park for 10 mins. I did not pay it and I am now receiving letters from Debt Recovery Plus claiming I owe them £80. I emailed them to dispute this, however they advised the charge stands and that if I did not make contact to arrange payment they would seek a CCJ.
I am extremely worried about this as I plan to apply for a mortgage soon so i am worried that if I do not pay my credit rating will be effected. Does anyone have any advise?
Also, I have visited the Debt Recovey Plus website and they have a list of names of people they claim to have successfully taken to court and won. Not sure if these names are genuine or a scare tactic? Do DRP have the power to take people to court?
Any advise would be grealty appreciated0 -
Just ignore the fools.
They cannot "seek" a CCJ. The ONLY way your credit can be affected is if
a) They take you to court (won't happen)
b) They win (won't happen)
c) You then don't pay within 28 days
It's all scare-mongering. Please don't give it a second thought. Or a first one for that matterOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

Follow the advice on these forums and ignore. They will then post you increasingly scary letters. If they were going to take you to court they would just do it after the first letter you have already received.0 -
They are robbing cowboys and I cant believe they get away with this. If they were to get a CCJ against me, would my credit rating be effected straight away, or would it only be if i did not pay within the 28 days? Does anyone know of anyone that was taken to court?
A bit concerned that if I ignore it and I get taken to court i'm going to end up having to pay double. But I think i'l take the risk.0 -
The only way the PPC will get a CCJ is:
1 - They take you to court
2 - They win
3 - You refuse to pay whatever the judge orders within 28 days
1 is very rare, although some have chanced court lately, 2 is rarer still, and it will take a very dodgy judge to decide the £80 for parking for 10 minutes in a supermarket's car-park is the landowners damages. I'm guessing it's a pay & display with a refund element if you spend over X in store, therefore the landowners damages would be limited to whatever the pay & display amount is for 10 minutes worth of parking, and if you did shop in there spending over the threshold for a refund the damages could be argued are zero.
Just ignore the pretty bog-paper dressed up as invoices0
