I think that Skye is "God's own country" in terms of beautiful scenery, and even more beautiful sunsets (though not in terms of midgies and weather). Check out these for what I mean - all were taken at Duntulm Bay, at the north of the island (and I can recommend the Duntulm Hotel for excellent food).

They were taken with a bog standard camera, nothin' fancy - that's how good the sunsets are.

I couldn't agree more - Skye is the best place on earth for me, especially Elgol with the stunning views to the Cuillin, and Loch Coruisk which is a hidden gem. Check this photo out (not mine, I hasten to add)

I also love Plockton and spend a lot of time there. Applecross Bay is magnificent and is where my family are from.

Another place I really like is Achiltibuie - the beach there is glorious.

My faves are (all link to my own photos):

    Rackwick Bay, Hoy, Orkney
    Gullane
    Achmelvich
Lower Largo - not the greatest but my dad lives right by it so it's becoming quite a special place for me.

  • We have some wonderful beaches, but I don't think they'll be so wonderful if they get mobbed after being 'featured' on this thread...
