Lovely beach, my favourite!! I live north of Inverness, so its not far away, lovely!0 -
Achmelvich is really lovely.
I'm a NE Fife girl though so it has to be Kinshaldy (very well-kept secret) or St Andrews for me. I think St A just edges it and I love this photo, taken a couple of years ago on Boxing Day:0 -
I think that Skye is "God's own country" in terms of beautiful scenery, and even more beautiful sunsets (though not in terms of midgies and weather). Check out these for what I mean - all were taken at Duntulm Bay, at the north of the island (and I can recommend the Duntulm Hotel for excellent food).

They were taken with a bog standard camera, nothin' fancy - that's how good the sunsets are. When in doubt, make soup.0 -
Balmedie when it had sand was great!26/09/2017 - Started comping again. Wins so far: 1!
11/10/17 - Capture Kill Release on DVD0 -
I must admit Balmedie is one of my favourites, however the beach at Ettrick Bay on the Isle of Bute has got to be mentioned.0

Definitely either Machrihanish beach, Kintyre, Argyll, and a few more further up the peninsula; Morar Silver Sands; Newark in Deerness, Orkney; or the bay of Skaill, Skarra Brae, Orkney; the red (made from ground down garnets,) sanded shore at Tombreck, Loch Tayside............I could go on and on.
I've just realised how many beautiful beaches we have in this bonnie country. Ain't we the lucky ones? :-)0 -

I'm from Uist and think we have the most beautiful beaches but you need to know where to go, almost white sands and clear blue water with wonderful views over to the altantic and St Kilda on North Uist and Barra from Eriskay and South Uist and the gulf stream coming in on the west side making it rather plesant for a dip surprisingly.0

I dont mean to diss Balmedie, but after all of your rave reviews I decided to take a detour with the OH from Westhill a few weekends ago to see it for myself.
I have some snaps at home (will post later)
It did not live up to what you all state....
I am a winner with
1. Lunan Bay
2. Elie Beach
3. Ruby Bay
4. Shell Bay
Any in Orkney

Bumping this old thread -- some great ideas for the summer."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
