The Bu sands, Burray Orkney was a childhood fave. Lots of dunes and lovely golden sands. Also a great place to find grottie buckies.

I would also agree Lunan Bay is great too.

    It's only a game

    Sandwood Bay is stunning:

So is Calgary Bay on Mull:

    And Kiloran Bay on Colonsay:

Or Seacliff (near North Berwick) for somewhere nearer home (Edinburgh):

    Sea Cliff Beach
From Dunbar take the Al towards Edinburgh, turning off to the 198 for North Berwick, follow this road through the village of Whitekirk and continue to the farm "Auldhame". On the right hand side of the road before a sharp left bend, just after the farmhouse on the right, is a turning to the right leading to Seacliff Beach. This beach is private and there is a charge of £2 at the barrier in order to gain access. Features: Car parking £2 in the form of 2 x £l coins. Caves and views of Tantallon Castle and the Bass Rock secret harbour - this is an exceptionally beautiful white sandy beach, with staggering views.

Yep Seacliff gets my vote too

Nairn on the Moray Firth has two beaches, the East Beach has lovely golden sand and lots of sand dunes. The West Beach is pebbly, grittier sand but lots of rock pools....This was a few years ago, hope they have not changed too much.

    I have 3 favourites,
Aberdeen beach is beautiful and so unappreciated by the locals.
    Dornoch beach
    Embo beach.
